CST Presents Black Watch, Closes 4/10

Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) continues its celebrated role bringing the world's great theater companies to Chicago audiences with a World's Stage presentation of the National Theatre of Scotland's internationally acclaimed Black Watch March 29-April 10, 2011.

SSPY GARBO Plays 3LD, Closes 4/10

Affinity Company Theater and 3-Legged Dog will present the world premiere of Sheila Schwartz's 'SPY GARBO,' directed by Kevin Cunningham, in a multi-media production. This Off Broadway engagement will be performed at 3LD Art & Technology Center, 80 Greenwich Street (just south of Rector). Performances will end April 10.

The New School Presents Warhorse: The Puppeteers - Basil Jones, Opens 4/13

On April 13, the Vera List Center for Art and Politics and the Sheila C. Johnson Design Center at The New School present an evening conversation with Basil Jones and Adrian Kohler, founders of the Capetown-based Handspring Theater Company, in conjunction with the current Lincoln Center Theater presentation of the multi-award winning Warhorse.

Profiles Theatre Brings Back JAILBAIT To The Second Stage, Closes 2/27

Profiles Theatre is bringing back its acclaimed Midwest Premiere of Jailbait by Deirdre O'Connor, directed by Artistic Director Joe Jahraus, for a limited engagement at its new space, The Second Stage. The production closes February 27, 2011, at The Second Stage, 3408 N. Sheffield (the former Stage Left Theatre).

Arena Stage Closes THE ARABIAN NIGHTS 2/20/11

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater is delighted to present The Arabian Nights, written and directed by Tony Award winner Mary Zimmerman (Metamorphoses). The production, presented in association with Berkeley Repertory Theatre, Kansas City Repertory Theatre and Lookingglass Theatre Company, has been recognized as "Zimmerman's most theatrically complete and perfect creation" (Chicago Tribune).

Brooklyn Tobacco Warehouse to Become St. Anne's Theatre Center

With an endorsement from The National Park Service, the Brooklyn Bridge Park Corporation is set to continiue plans to make the Brooklyn Tobacco Warehouse into St. Ann's Warehouse. If things go as plans, the warehouse will be converted into two separate performance spaces. Still, more approvals are needed to make the theatre a reality.

THE PAJAMA MEN Come to New York, 2/16-17

UK comedy duo (by way of Albuquerque, NM) The Pajama Men, aka Shenoah Allen and Mark Chavez, are bringing their International smash hit comedy show - 'The Last Stand to Reason' - to NYC. Often called indescribable, the duo - along with live musical accompaniment by Kevin Hume - engage in some of the most unusual and hilarious physical comedy around. Their split second character switches and ability to weave together multiple story lines at high speeds has landed them the honor of being the first and only independent act represented by Chicago's Second City and have been produced in such esteemed venues as Second City and Steppenwolf in Chicago, and The Samuel Becket Theatre in Dublin. New Victory Presents A One-Woman King Lear Adaptation: Nearly Lear, Closes 1/16

Only a handful of actors have dared to tackle a one-man performance of a Shakespeare play. But In Nearly Lear presented by The New Victory Theater, which will close at The Duke on 42nd Street theater on January 16, Susanna Hamnett, a British tour de force based in Toronto, will portray every character in this mischievous retelling of King Lear.
