The Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry Presents THE BUSINESS PUPPETRY

As part of the 2017 Spring Puppet Forum Series, the Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry at the University of Connecticut will present a discussion with professionals in the puppetry field entitled The Business of Puppetry on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 7 p.m. in the Ballard Institute Theater, located at 1 Royce Circle in Storrs Center.

American Bard Theater Explores Gender Roles, Race, and Death in VISIONARY VOICES

American Bard Theater Company presents Visionary Voices, three poignant, tantalizing plays by two pioneering women playwrights, exploring gender roles, race, and death in America's early twentieth century. Aimee Todoroff and Tonya Pinkins direct. The evening of one-act works include Trifles by Susan Glaspell (1916), Exit: An Illusion by Marita Bonner (1929), and The People by Susan Glaspell (1918). Performances will be staged at the Gloria Maddox Theatre, 151 West 26th Street, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001 from February 15-March 5, 2017.

Denise Gough to Reprise Olivier Award-Winning Role in PEOPLE, PLACES & THINGS at St. Ann's Warehouse

St. Ann's Warehouse, building upon its rich history of partnerships with the UK's most exciting theaters and theater artists, is proud to join forces with the National Theatre and Headlong for the first time to present the American Premiere of Duncan MacMillan's People, Places & Things, a National Theatre / Headlong co-production, directed by Jeremy Herrin, which was one of last season's must-see shows on the West End. Denise Gough will reprise her Olivier Award-winning role as an actress whose life has spun recklessly out of control because of her addiction to alcohol and drugs.

American Contemporary Music Ensemble Performs at Roulette in NYC Concert Series Curated by Meredith Monk

ACME, American Contemporary Music Ensemble, will perform music from its new 'portrait' album Thrive on Routine on Monday, February 13, 2017 at 8pm at Roulette (509 Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn, NY), on a concert series curated by Meredith Monk. The concert will feature Monk's first string quartet, Stringsongs, from 2005, which ACME has performed frequently and recorded for Q2 Music's Meet the Composer podcast. In addition, ACME will perform Caroline Shaw's in manus tuas for solo cello, Caleb Burhans' Jahrzeit for string quartet, and Timo Andres' Thrive on Routine for string quartet, from the new album. ACME players for this concert are Ben Russell and Laura Lutzke, violins; Caleb Burhans, viola; and Clarice Jensen, cello and ACME artistic director.

Hannah Yelland to Star in World Premiere of INTELLIGENCE at Arena Stage; Cast Set!

Jacqueline E. Lawton's new political thriller Intelligence makes its world premiere at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater. Under the direction of Daniella Topol (Round House's Ironbound), Intelligence explores the cost of deception and the consequences of speaking truth to power. Due to popular demand, the production has been extended for one week with eight additional performances and will run February 24-April 9, 2017 in the Arlene and Robert Kogod Cradle.

Isango Ensemble's A MAN OF GOOD HOPE to Make U.S. Premiere at BAM

In a co-production with the Young Vic-which partnered with Isango on 2014's Olivier Award-winning The Magic Flute-the company adapts for the stage South African native Jonny Steinberg's 2015 book about a Somali refugee's journey from Mogadishu to Johannesburg and finally to the US.

PROTOTYPE: Opera/Theatre/Now Returns to NYC Today

Prototype: Opera/Theatre/Now invigorates New York City tonight, January 5, through January 15, 2017, with its fifth annual explosion of provocative and pioneering opera- and music-theatre, curated by co-founding producers, Kristin Marting (of HERE), Beth Morrison (of Beth Morrison Projects) and Kim Whitener (of HERE).

THE WOLVES Plays Free Matinee Today Off-Broadway for #RealmFanDay

In response to popular demand, The Playwrights Realm, by arrangement with Scott Rudin and Eli Bush, have announced two additional matinee performances of The Wolves, Sarah DeLappe's debut play at The Duke on 42nd Street, a New 42nd Street project, today and tomorrow, December 28 and 29 at 3pm.
