Producer David Binder just announced that the critically acclaimed Broadway revival of HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, which last month received four Tony Awards including Best Revival of a Musical, has recouped its initial capitalization investment as of the week ending Sunday, July 13.
This week's SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE had a very Broadway feel to it with Josh Bergasse, the choreographer of the upcoming ON THE TOWN revival, staging a Top-20 routine to the show's anthem 'New York, New York' (the one by Bernstein, Comden, and Green, not Kander and Ebb). As we learned last week, this season's winner will earn a spot in the musical's ensemble. While some people, including @Actor_Friend, don't like this idea, remember, the last network show to give away roles on Broadway brought us Laura Osnes, so let's reserve judgment, just in case a reality show brings us more Broadway royalty this time.

Atlantic Records will release the Original Broadway Cast Recording of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, the most nominated musical revival of the season, featuring Tony Award nominees Neil Patrick Harris and Lena Hall. The album is produced by HEDWIG composer Stephen Trask, Tony Award nominated sound designer and platinum-selling record producer Tim O'Heir, and the production's music director Justin Craig. The album is executive produced by Elie Landau and David Binder.

The 11th season of SYTYCD begins this Wednesday, May 28th at 8:00/7:00 C. Recently I participated in a conference call with the show's creator, Executive Producer, and judge Nigel Lythgoe. The Philadelphia intensive at the Kimmel Center for Performing Arts will include master classes devoted to mastering the college audition process led by Mary Anna Dennard, top college audition coach and author of 'I Got In!' Joining Dennard will be representatives from top musical theatre schools including, Kaitlin Hopkins (Texas State University), Grant Kretchik (Pace University, Dyson College), Robin Lewis (Rider University), Barbara MacKenzie-Wood (Carnegie Mellon University), Mark Madama (University of Michigan), and Amy Rogers (Pace University).
