Michael Croiter, musician and owner of the recording production facility Yellow Sound Lab, and Tony Award®-winning Orchestrator Bill Sherman (In the Heights) have partnered to launch YELLOW SOUND LABEL, a brand new record label that will produce an eclectic array of albums from some of today's biggest talents from Broadway and beyond. Yellow Sound Label recently signed a distribution deal with Alternative Distribution Alliance (A.D.A. Distribution), part of Warner Bros. Music, and is set to premiere on September 22 with the release of Tony Award® winner Alan Cumming's new album, I Bought a Blue Car Today.
Singer and songwriter Spencer Day returns to The Rrazz Room at The Hotel Nikko, 222 Mason, San Francisco from September 8-20. The shows celebrate his first CD release on Concord Jazz. The recording features arrangements by Gil Goldstein and songs ranging from standards by the likes of Cole Porter and Leonard Bernstein, a pop song by Fiona Apple, and love songs like ?The Rainbow Connection,? a children?s song she sings to her son, Jack, who was born during the making of the recording. Monheit will appear at the Blue Note in June during the first leg of the June Vocal Series, which will feature Spencer Day, Sophie Milman, Bilal and Rachelle Ferrell throughout the month.
