William Kentridge's Chamber Opera REFUSE THE HOUR Comes to Royce Hall

UCLA's Center for the Art of Performance (CAP UCLA) presents world-renowned South African artist William Kentridge's Refuse the Hour, the multimedia chamber opera companion to his five-channel video installation The Refusal of Time, at 8 p.m. today, Nov. 17 and Saturday, Nov. 18 at Royce Hall. Single tickets for $59 $119 are now available online at cap.ucla.edu, via Ticketmaster, by phone 310-825-2101 and at the UCLA Central Ticket Office.

Cal Rep presents POLAROID STORIES by Naomi Iizuka

Playwright Naomi Iizuka radically adapts and retells Ovid's ancient classic Metamorphoses, with homeless youth crafting stories both for their physical survival and for the transformation of their souls. In this contemporary collage of classical mythology and real-life stories of street kids, the play weaves a world where myth-making and storytelling are vital weapons for the characters to survive a system that erases and ignores them.

Blessed Unrest Presents THE SNOW QUEEN at the New Ohio Theatre

Japan Society presents The SITI Company Production of Yukio Mishima's HANJO

Japan Society proudly presents the New York City premiere of SITI Company's striking interpretation of Yukio Mishima's play Hanjo, created and performed by the internationally acclaimed ensemble theater SITI Company, in a new English Translation by SITI Co-Artistic Director Leon Ingulsrud, who also directs. Arriving as part of the NOH-NOW Series within Japan Society's Fall 2017-Winter 2017 Performing Arts Season, coinciding with the Society's 110th Anniversary, this production will have three performances, December 7 9, at Japan Society (333 East 47th Street).

La Jolla Playhouse announces three world premieres and one west coast premiere for its 2018/2019 season, including: The Squirrels, by Tony Award nominee Robert Askins (Broadway's Hand to God), directed by Playhouse Artistic Director and 2017 Tony Award winner Christopher Ashley; Seize the King, by Will Power (Playhouse's The Seven), directed by Playhouse Associate Artistic Director Jaime Casta eda; The Year to Come, by Lindsey Ferrentino (Ugly Lies the Bone) and queens, by Martyna Majok (Ironbound).

Hiroshi Sugimoto's RIKYU-ENOURA: A NEW NOH PLAY Premieres Tonight at Japan Society

Japan Society presents the world premiere of Rikyu-Enoura: A New Noh Play by Hiroshi Sugimoto. Commissioned by Japan Society and Odawara Art Foundation for the Society's 110th Anniversary, this noh play, which is newly written but adheres to noh's medieval language, is performed in traditional style with noh masks, costumes, musical instruments and chanters.

Ripe Time Premieres Haruki Murakami's SLEEP in Philadelphia

Sleep will make its world premiere, October 27-28, at the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Pennsylvania and will have its New York premiere at BAM Fisher as part of the 2017 Next Wave Festival, November 29 - December 2.
