BLEACH Announces Final Extension Through March 30

The US Premiere of BLEACH by Dan Ireland-Reeves will extend through March 30, 2019. This award-winning underground hit, seen throughout the UK as well as in Paris, Stockholm, London and Dublin, made its US premiere in January in an intimate, immersive production performed for an audience of 10.

Guthrie Theater Announces 2019-2020 Season - CABARET, SWEAT, and More!

The Guthrie Theater (Joseph Haj, artistic director) today announced the nine productions of its 2019 2020 subscription season: Tennessee Williams' classic family drama The Glass Menagerie; Shakespeare's rollicking comedy Twelfth Night; an adaptation of Emma based on the Jane Austen novel; and Kander and Ebb's musical Cabaret will grace the Guthrie's signature Wurtele Thrust Stage while the McGuire Proscenium Stage's lineup will include Robert Harling's female-driven comedy Steel Magnolias; the regional premiere of Noura, Heather Raffo's complex tale of identity; Anne Bogart's acclaimed production of Euripides' The Bacchae; Karen Zacar as' comedic telenovela Destiny of Desire; and Lynn Nottage's Pulitzer Prize-winning Sweat.

The Jewish Museum And Bang On A Can Present Julia Wolfe's String Quartets Performed By ETHEL

Bang on a Can and the Jewish Museum's 2018-2019 concert season, pairing innovative music with the Museum's exhibitions and showcasing leading female performers and composers, continues today, February 28, 2019 at 7:30pm. The acclaimed string quartet ETHEL performs the complete string quartets of Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Julia Wolfe: Dig Deep, Early that Summer, Four Marys, and Blue Dress. This is the first performance of all of Wolfe's string quartets at one time, on one stage.

Lee Wilkof & More Join Cast of Public Theater's SOCRATES

The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) announced complete casting today for the world premiere of SOCRATES, written by acclaimed actor, director, and writer Tim Blake Nelson. Directed by Tony Award winner Doug Hughes and anchoring the Onassis Festival 2019: Democracy is Coming, SOCRATES will begin previews on Tuesday, April 2, with a Joseph Papp Free Preview performance on Wednesday, April 3 in The Public's Martinson Hall. This powerful new play runs through Sunday, May 19, with an official press opening on Tuesday, April 16.

Casting Announced For One Year Lease's EAT THE DEVIL At The Tank

The Tank (Meghan Finn and Rosalind Grush, Artistic Directors) in association with One Year Lease Theater Company (2018 Drama Desk nominee for Balls; 2016 Drama Desk nominne for please excuse my dear aunt sally) will present the World Premiere of Eat the Devil by Nadja Leonhard-Hooper (member of EST's Youngblood) and Dan Nuxoll (Brooklyn Magazine's 100 Most Influential People in Brooklyn Culture), directed by Nick Flint (BALLS with One Year Lease), at The Tank (312 West 36th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues).

Scoundrel & Scamp Theatre Presents EVERY BRILLIANT THING

In February The Scoundrel & Scamp Theatre presents Every Brilliant Thing, Duncan MacMillan's one-character play described by The Guardian as "one of the funniest plays you'll see about depression." Claire Marie Mannle inhabits the role - rarely performed by a female protagonist - of a young person determined to list every brilliant thing about life in an attempt to ward off her mother's suicidal tendencies. The play, performed in the round on the Scoundrel & Scamp's mainstage, is directed by Michelle Milne. The season runs February 7-24, 2019. Boston Lyric Opera Announces Spring 2019 Season - THE HANDMAID'S TALE, LUCRETIA, and More!

Boston Lyric Opera's (BLO) season of rebels and dissenters continues into Spring 2019 with tales of strong women helmed by women directors. BLO's productions of THE RAPE OF LUCRETIA and THE HANDMAID'S TALE tell startlingly relevant stories -- both with extraordinary music, and both produced in distinctive, non-traditional spaces. Artistic and General Director Esther Nelson says the spring season highlights stories from which female characters emerge as moral and societal touchstones.

BETWEEN THE THREADS Opens Tonight At HERE

The World Premiere of Between the Threads opens tonight at HERE. The production began previews last weekend and runs until February 10. Between the Threads is directed by Coral Cohen who also conceived the piece, and features original music by Violinist Zoe Aqua. The limited run features an all-female-identified cast who helped develop the piece.

DEFINITION OF MAN Returns To Los Angeles

Definition of Man, which had its world premiere at the Hollywood Fringe Festival in June 2017 and recently finished an international tour returns to the LA stage this January. The one-act play had an oversold run during Hollywood Fringe and was nominated for multiple awards including Best World Premiere and won Best of Fringe in Dance & Physical Theatre, the "Ripest Show" sponsored Award from Cherry Poppins, and an Encore Producers Award. At Edinburgh, they enjoyed a successful twenty-one show run that critics called a five-star "unmissable" production (everything- theatre.co.uk) where the "quality of writing, thought and performance going into the show...is a pleasure to see" (thescotsman.com).

Annenberg Center Live and NextMove Dance present the Martha Graham Dance Company in the EVE Project, Friday, January 25 (8 PM) and Saturday, January 26 (2 PM and 7 PM). The EVE Project commemorates the upcoming centennial of the 19th Amendment (which extended the right to vote to American women) with works by all female choreographers, staying true to Graham's tradition of social activism.
