Everyman Joins In Partnership Project With Berkeley Rep

On Tuesday, October 13 a radio production of Sinclair Lewis' novel It Can't Happen Here will broadcast at 5PM PDT/8PM EDT via YouTube. The audio drama has been made available to organizations across the country. The intent for the project is to encourage dialogue and motivate citizens to exercise their civic power and vote. 

Northlight To Participate In IT CAN'T HAPPEN HERE Radio Play

Northlight Theatre, under the direction of Artistic Director BJ Jones and Executive Director Timothy J. Evans, announces that it is one of a select group of nonprofit arts organizations participating in a free livestream theatrical event, an adaptation of Sinclair Lewis' novel It Can't Happen Here. The radio play, produced by Berkeley Rep and featuring David Strathairn (Good Night, and Good Luck), will broadcast live on October 13, 2020 at 7pm via YouTube.

Raúl Esparza Will Lead Premiere of THE WAVES IN QUARANTINE at Berkeley Rep; New Virtual Programming Announced

Berkeley Rep's Artistic Director Johanna Pfaelzer today announced three additional virtual projects for the fall. The season, titled Rep On-Air, will include collaborations with Tony Award nominee Raúl Esparza (Company, Speed-the-Plow, and Taboo), celebrated New Yorker cartoon artist Tom Toro, Pulitzer Finalist Eisa Davis, and Bay Area favorite Hershey Felder.

GERTRUDE STEIN AND A COMPANION Announced At The Peterborough Players

What do Picasso, Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Sinclair Lewis, Thornton Wilder, and Matisse have in common? They all invented themselves in the famous Paris atelier of two American expats, Gertrude Stein and Alice B. Toklas. Gertrude Stein and a Companion, running from July 3rd - 14th, explores the 40-year love affair between these two great minds and enduring artists of the 20th century.

Humanity Theatre Project Explores the Fragility of Democracy with First Production

What would have happened if the United States had voted the wrong president into office in 1936 and the country had descended into fascism? That is the question explored as The Humanity Theatre Project launches its first season with a staged reading of It Can't Happen Here (Part 1) adapted by Tony Taccone and Bennett S. Cohen from the novel by Sinclair Lewis. The production will take place Thursday, November 1 through Saturday, November 3 at 7:00 pm at The Darkhorse Theatre, 4610 Charlotte Avenue, Nashville.

6NewPlays Closes with Brian Thorstenson's WAKEFIELD

With a mission to produce one new play by each of its six members, 6NewPlays officially closes up shop this fall with WAKEFIELD by Brian Thorstenson. Inspired by Nathaniel Hawthorne's short story of the same name, Wakefield starts at the moment Hawthorne's story ends, when the husband Henry Wakefield returns home after 20 years. Veteran actor Anne Darragh plays Sophia, Henry's wife, alongside Thorstenson as Henry. Erin Mei-Ling Stuart co-directs. Wakefield runs October 5 - 14 at Studio 210 in the Mission. Tickets, $20 - $25, will go on sale in August.

The play is full of music, and discussions of art, philosophy, culture, science and politics on a world stage. THE FLYING ACE Makes Duck Soup Cinema Debut

The Flying Ace (1926) makes its Duck Soup Cinema debut on Sat., Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. with accompaniment by Jelani Eddington on the 1928 Grand Barton Organ, one of the last of its kind. This inspiring film, featuring an all African-American cast, is set in World War I and tells the story of a fighter ace breaking through racial barriers to serve the nation and his return to the U.S. after the war.
