Hannah Bos to Bring Spirit of Invention Off-Broadway in THE LIGHT YEARS; Full Cast Announced!

Playwrights Horizons has announced complete casting for THE LIGHT YEARS, the world premiere of a new play written by Drama Desk Award winner Hannah Bos (The Open House, Jacuzzi, Blood Play, Buddy Cop 2) and Obie Award winner Paul Thureen (Jacuzzi, Blood Play, Buddy Cop 2), directed and developed by Obie Award winner Oliver Butler (Jacuzzi, The Open House, Blood Play), made by The Debate Society.

Design-Focused 'in 1: the podcast' Welcomes Tony-Nominated Lighting Designer Japhy Weideman

Just before we say good riddance to 2016, the podcast is back with one more episode with Lighting Designer and four-time Tony Nominee Japhy Weideman. Japhy is fresh off the hit show DEAR EVAN HANSEN, and he tells us about the challenges and nuances of lighting a musical in a black void filled with projected imagery. Cory and Japhy also talk about his style and approach to lighting with examples from his work including BRIGHT STAR, THE NANCE, DEAD POET'S SOCIETY, MACBETH, and THE VISIT.

Set in a run-down movie theater in central Massachusetts, home to one of the last 35 millimeter film projectors in the state, The Flick follows the hilarious and sometimes heartbreaking stories of Sam, Avery and Rose, three mismatched employees. As they sweep up popcorn, bitch about their bosses, and critique the films that play at their ill-attended cineplex, the trio's own funny and fraught dramas play out in the empty aisles. But unlike the films that flicker from the projection booth, these dramas have real-world consequences.

Heidi Blickenstaff, Emma Hunton to Reprise Roles in Disney's FREAKY FRIDAY at La Jolla Playhouse

La Jolla Playhouse has announced the two lead roles for its upcoming production of Freaky Friday, book by Bridget Carpenter (TV's 'Friday Night Lights,' 'Parenthood'), music and lyrics by the Tony Award- and Pulitzer Prize-winning team of Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey (Next to Normal, If/Then), based on the novel 'Freaky Friday' by Mary Rodgers and the Walt Disney motion pictures, to be directed by Playhouse Artistic Director Christopher Ashley, running January 31 - March 12, 2017 in the Mandell Weiss Theatre.

Lyric Theatre's Michael Baron Named Recipient of 2016 Governor's Arts Award

Oklahoma Lt. Gov. Todd Lamb on Wednesday recognized Lyric Theatre's Producing Artistic Director Michael Baron as a recipient of the 2016 Governor's Arts Award. The Community Service Award was presented to Baron during the 41st annual ceremony at the State Capitol Rotunda.
