In response to popular demand and critical acclaim, Soho Rep. announces a second extension of the world premiere of Branden Jacobs-Jenkins's An Octoroon. Directed by Soho Rep. Artistic Director Sarah Benson, An Octoroon will run through June 8.

Soho Rep presents the world premiere of Branden Jacobs-Jenkins's An Octoroon, directed by Soho Rep. Artistic Director Sarah Benson. The production, tonight, April 23, through May 18, concludes a banner New York season for the celebrated playwright, whose Appropriate made its New York premiere February 25-April 6 at Signature Theatre.

In response to popular demand and one week before performances begin, Soho Rep. extends the world premiere of Branden Jacobs-Jenkins's An Octoroon, directed by Soho Rep. Artistic Director Sarah Benson, to May 24. Performances of An Octoroon will now take place April 23-May 24 (see schedule above) at Soho Rep. Critics are welcome as of Wednesday, April 30 for an official opening of Sunday, May 4 at 7:30pm.

Mermaid Sand Productions and Kid Brooklyn Productions announced the cast of Sarah Shaefer's The Gin Baby, directed by Daniel Talbott, January 19 through February 2, 2014 at the IRT Theater in downtown Manhattan.

This year, "Communal Spaces: a garden play festival" will share its final weekend with the LUNGS Harvest Art Festival, a multidimensional arts festival that reflects the creative spirit of the neighborhood and the integral part that community gardens play in the culture and life of Lower East Side. Last year, Communal Spaces' play 'Don't Weep for Me, Willow Tree' was featured as part of the festival. This year, all the plays will be part of the weekend of arts events. Admission is free.

The iStar Theatre Lab is currently work shopping two projects selected for the 2012 inaugural theatre lab in New York City: VEILS, a new play by Tom Coash with direction by Camille Saviola, and GAY BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN, a new musical by Billy Butler and Dane Leeman directed by Rachel Klein. Casting for Tiata Delights 08, the six new plays presented by the British African Theatre Company Tiata Fahodzi during their summer residency at the Almeida, includes Cathy Tyson, Ellen Thomas and Cyril Nri who are joined by Jenny Jules, last at the Almeida in The Homecoming, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Danny Sapani, who played alongside her in Big White Fog.
