Casting for Tiata Delights 08, the six new plays presented by the British African Theatre Company Tiata Fahodzi during their summer residency at the Almeida, includes Cathy Tyson, Ellen Thomas and Cyril Nri who are joined by Jenny Jules, last at the Almeida in The Homecoming, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Danny Sapani, who played alongside her in Big White Fog.

Now in its fourth year, Tiata Delights 08, will showcase a week-long presentation of work from emerging and established British African playwrights, all resident in the UK.  Performances are 28, 29, 30, 31 July and 1 August at 7.30pm and 2 August at 6pm.  The week will culminate in a concert of eclectic British African music on 2 August at 9pm.

The cast is Ayo-Dele Ajana, Jude Akuwudike, Aml Ameen, Shyko Amos, Christopher Colquhoun, Adetomiwa Edun, Tunde Euba, Jenny Jules, Cush Jumbo, Martina Laird, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Charles Mnene,  Cyril Nri, Yetunde Oduwole, Rhoda Ofori-Attah, Chike Okonkwo, Marcy Oni, Ben Onwukwe, Israel Oyelumade, Richard Pepple, Joy Elias-Rilwan, Clifford Samuel, Danny Sapani, Ellen Thomas and Cathy Tyson.

The playwrights are Bola Agbaje, Francis Aidoo, Yvonne Dodoo, Rex Obano, Nii Ayikwei Parkes and Ade Solanke.
 
The directors are Syan Blake, Femi Elufowoju, jr., Gbemisola Ikumelo and Nick Oshikanlu.

Over the course of the week, the plays will receive staged readings by three directors overseen by Artistic Director Femi Elufowoju, jr.  This year's season opens with a new play written by 2008 Laurence Olivier award-winner Bola Agbaje.  The week long event concludes with a concert bringing together a selection of UK's finest African musicians.  The confirmed line up includes Jamiroquai's Sola Akingbola, Contemporary-Gospel sensation GK Real, Sierra-Leonean Harmonica player Leon Maddy, James Lascelles and traditional African classicist Tunde Jegede.
