Luker Joins Jones In NSO Pops THE MUSIC MAN Concert At The kennedy Center 11/27-28

On November 27 and 28, 2009 Rebecca Luker will join Shirley Jones and the National Symphony Orchestra Pops for NSO Pops: The Music of The Music Man. These concert reviews of songs from Meredith Willson's The Music Man will be led by Principal Pops Conductor Marvin Hamlisch and will also feature the City Choir of Washington. The performances will take place during Thanksgiving weekend in the Kennedy Center Concert Hall on Friday, November 27 at 1:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., and on Saturday, November 28 at 8 p.m.

Luigi Creatore's Flamingo Court was directed by directed by Steven Yuhasz and celebrated life in three Florida condos at New World Stages. From the ridiculous to the touching, Creatore's' play has been heralded as 'Without question, the funniest show in town. Laughs galore!' UPI with John Simon of Bloomberg calling the show 'a wall-to-wall hoot for old and young alike. The audience laughed up a Florida-worthy hurricane!'

Shakespeare Festival/LA (SF/LA), a professional and community-based non-profit theater company, is auctioning off a speaking role alongside Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks in the 2009 Simply Shakespeare adaptation of ?The Comedy of Errors? under the direction of Ben Donenberg, founding Artistic Director, SF/LA. The winner will participate in rehearsal, gain admission to the VIP post-show party and take a group photo with the cast, which the cast will all sign. The auction began May 1 and will end at 7pm PDT on May 11, 2009.

Established in 1988, the Richard Rodgers Award for Excellence in Musical Theater recognizes the lifetime contributions of outstanding talents in musical theater. Pittsburgh CLO has presented the Richard Rodgers Award 11 times in recent years to such luminaries as Mary Martin (1988), Dame Julie Andrews (1989), Harold Prince (1991), Sir Cameron Mackintosh (1992), Stephen Sondheim (1993), Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber (1996), Gwen Verdon (2000), Bernadette Peters (2002), Shirley Jones (2007), Kathleen Marshall (2008) and Rob Marshall (2008).

Multi award-winning director Rick Sparks (They Shoot Horses, Don?t They?) directs and musical stage this comedy about one couple?s hellish journey to un-tie the knot. Divorce! The Musical also features musical direction and arrangements by Ovation Award-winner David O (Ubu Roi and Jason Robert Brown?s 13).
