Chance Theater, Anaheim's official resident theater company, is delighted to introduce Jane Austen's Emma: The Musical to Orange County for the first time as part of our 2018 Holiday Literature Series!  Book, lyrics, and music by Tony-nominated composer Paul Gordon, directed by Casey Long, and with music direction by Bill Strongin, Jane Austen's Emma: The Musical will preview from November 23rd through November 30th; regular performances will begin December 1st and continue through December 23rd on the Cripe Stage at Chance Theater @ Bette Aitken theater arts Center.

8 - 11 November, Pontine Theatre kicks off it's 41st Season at its new performance venue, The Plains School, located at One Plains Avenue in Portsmouth's West End. The newly renovated Plains School, a collaboration between Pontine Theatre and the City of Portsmouth, is fully accessible with convenient free parking adjacent. Jay O'Callahan, a Massachusetts-based storyteller, will perform Books, Burglars & Broadway. The production is underwritten by Piscataqua Savings Bank and guest artist accommodations are provided by Martin Hill Inn.

Just in time for the holidays, on November 29th the Provincetown Theater (238 Bradford Street in Provincetown, MA) is set to open its final major offering of the 2018 season, the joyous musical memoir Always… Patsy Cline. Based on a true story, and featuring 27 hit songs from the legendary star, Always… Patsy Cline* follows the special friendship between the country-music icon and her devoted fan Louise Seger, who became a longtime pen pal and trusted confidante of Patsy. The production, running thru December 16th, stars Julia Salinger (from The Laramie Project) as Louise, and Laura Cappello (from You Can't Take It with You) returning to the title role - which, when she performed it on Cape Cod several years ago, the Cape Cod Times raved "Laura Cappello IS Patsy Cline." In Provincetown, it will be directed by David Drake, with musical direction from John Thomas, who'll head up the band.

On Friday October 26, 2018 the mostly sold-out crowd of avid listeners heard the music of a slate of 19th and early 20th century Russian composers, conducted by the Russian-born conductor Tugan Sokhiev in his New York Philharmonic debut series.

Theatrical Outfit continues its 2018-2019 Season of Beauty with the return of our smash holiday hit, Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley, Decatur native Lauren Gunderson and co-writer Margot Melcon's sparkling and romantic sequel to Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. This year, four new actors join the cast - three of whom will make their Theatrical Outfit debuts. First Run Features is pleased to announce theLos Angeles theatrical premiere of The Second Time Around, a new film directed by Leon Marr. The film will open at Laemmle's Town Center 5 on December 14, 2018. 

The Royal Crown Players of Roslyn High School are starting off their season with the American classic comedy, The Man Who Came to Dinner, directed by Cyndi Feinman. Written by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman, The Man Who Came to Dinner was first produced on stage in 1939 and has become one of the most beloved American comedies, with adaptations on radio, TV, and film.

Freeform announced today that “Good Trouble,” the highly anticipated spin-off of the groundbreaking family drama “The Fosters,” will premiere on TUESDAY, JAN. 8. The pilot, executive produced and directed by Jon M. Chu (“Crazy Rich Asians”), follows Callie (Maia Mitchell) and Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) as they embark on the next phase of their young adult lives in Los Angeles, as Mariana tackles the male-dominated world of tech and Callie faces the harsh realities of the federal legal system clerking for a federal judge.

Back for a fourth season on The ABC Television Network, “The Great American Baking Show: Holiday Edition,” based on the hit U.K. series “The Great British Bake Off,” returns THURSDAY, DEC. 6 (9:00 – 11:00 p.m. EST). Showcasing bakers from around the country each week, the series puts their best recipes forward as they compete in holiday-themed challenges and eliminations, all hoping to be named America's Best Amateur Baker.

The Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP), the nation's premier member organization of independent storytellers, announced today the nominees for the 28th Annual IFP Gotham Awards. Ten competitive awards will be presented to independent features and series. In addition to the competitive awards, Gotham Tributes will be given to actors Rachel Weisz and Willem Dafoe, director Paul Greengrass, and the Gotham Industry Tribute to Jon Kamen.
