The Los Angeles Philharmonic announces its 98th summer season at the Hollywood Bowl. The Hollywood Bowl summer season features world-class artists ranging from classical and pops to jazz, rock, and world music including the world premiere of two new LA Phil-commissioned works plus a fully-staged Broadway musical.

For the sixth year in a row, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association will present the annual Playboy Jazz Festival at the Hollywood Bowl. In an extraordinary and eclectic line-up, performers already scheduled to appear, June 8-9, 2019, include world music diva Angélique Kidjo, blues and jazz rocker Boz Scaggs, pioneering jazz/funk/soul saxophonist Maceo Parker and his Big Band, crowd-pleasing singer and percussionist Sheila E., banjo master and bluegrass crossovers Béla Fleck and The Flecktones, Cuban pianist Harold López-Nussa, West African griot and kora player Sona Jobarteh,and the legendary saxophonist Benny Golson's 90th Birthday Quartet.

With the help of celebrated guest artists-including Oscar, Tony, and Emmy Award winner Ellen Burstyn, Tony Award winner BD Wong, and Emmy, Tony, and Golden Globe Award winner Judd Hirsch-American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) raised $900,000 at its Fall Celebration welcoming new Artistic Director Pam MacKinnon and new Executive Director Jennifer Bielstein. Proceeds from the event, which took place on Thursday, November 15 at Ken Fulk's brand-new multi-disciplinary arts space Saint Joseph's Arts Society, support A.C.T.'s diverse and far-reaching artistic, artist training, and education and community programs serving 250,000 Bay Area residents each year.

California Shakespeare Theater announced today the return of its record-breaking hit play black odyssey for a special limited engagement, September 25 through October 7, 2018 at the Bruns Amphitheater. Raphael Saadiq recently announced his first headline tour in several years. Today, he announced that his longtime friend and Lucy Pearl bandmate Ali Shaheed Muhammad (A Tribe Called Quest)--who recently announced new album TheMidnight Hour with Adrian Younge and featuring Saadiq, among other noteworthy musicians--will support him on several dates of the summer run. Flint, MI musician & activist Tunde Olaniran will also join the pair at Detroit's MOCAD.
