The Independent Reviewers of New England (IRNE) today announced the nominees for the 20th Annual IRNE Awards, which honors the best of the previous year's actors, directors, choreographers, designers and companies across the full spectrum of large, mid-size and fringe theater companies.

Fiddlehead Theatre Company will continue its groundbreaking 21st season with the enchanting fable Disney's The Little Mermaid for an extended run of nine performances from Nov 27th-Dec 6th at The Strand Theatre (543 Columbia Road, Dorchester, MA).

Moonbox Productions stages David Lindsay-Abaire's black comedy about a sixteen-year old girl with a rare disease that ages her rapidly. Allison Olivia Choat directs a cast of five who humanize these quirky, dysfunctional characters and allow us to feel how they live with the specter of doom hanging in the balance.

The Independent Reviewers of New England (IRNE) Awards, founded by Beverly Creasey of the Journal Newspapers and Larry Stark of TheaterMirror in 1997, recognize the extraordinary wealth of talent in the Boston theatre community.

Fiddlehead Theatre Company will proudly premiere Andrew Lippa's A Little Princess as their first production as the resident company at Boston's historic Strand Theatre (543 Columbia Road, Dorchester, MA) from November 21 -December 8, 2013. Moonbox Productions and Director Allison Olivia Choat have reverted to the familiar terrain of musical theater with this intimate, sung-through look into the heart and mind (er, brain) of Tony Award-winning composer William Finn (FALSETTOS, THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE) who grew up in Natick, Massachusetts.
