In anticipation of his July 7th concert at the 2015 New York Musical Theatre Festival, award-winning musical theatre writer Joel B. New sat down with Shakina Nayfack, an actress appearing in the upcoming NYMF production of Noemi de la Peunte, David Davila, and Howard Post's Manuel Versus the Statue of Liberty (July 21-27).
Mannyville LLC and Dramatic Question Theatre in association with the New York Musical Theatre Festival will present the premiere of Manuel versus The Statue of Liberty with book by Noemi de la Puente, music by David Davila & Howard Post, Lyrics by Noemi de la Puente & David Davila with direction by Jose Zayas, choreography by Sidney Erik Wright and musical direction by Karl Hedrick. The new musical will play at the 2015 NYMF from July 21 -27 at the Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street).

The Elphaba Fund awarded a $10,000 gift to Musical Theatre Factory today in support of the organization's commitment to developing new musicals by early-career writers and composers. The gift will help underwrite MTF's soon-to-be-announced summer season, and marks the most significant contribution made toward the Factory's $150,000 capital campaign announced earlier this year.
