New Billy Elliot Joins Show's London Cast

From 1 December 2008, twelve year old Brad Wilson from Doncaster will join the London cast of Billy Elliot the Musical at the Victoria Palace Theatre to play the title role, making him the thirtieth boy to play the iconic role worldwide, first performed by Jamie Bell in the original movie. He is joined by Joanna Riding who will play Mrs Wilkinson and Joe Caffrey who returns to the production to play Jackie Elliot, Billy?s Dad.

Shakespeare's Globe Announces 2009 Theatre Season

Shakespeare's Globe announced its 2009 theatre season, which opens on Shakespeare's birthday, 23 April, and goes under the overall title of Young Hearts. The Shakespeare plays will be Romeo and Juliet, As You Like It, Troilus and Cressida and a revival of Dominic Dromgoole's 2007 production of Love's Labour's Lost, prior to embarking upon a North American tour in the autumn.

Bette Bourne Returns to the London Stage in Fountain's RESIDENT ALIENT

Celebrating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Quentin Crisp (immortalised on TV by John Hurt in 'The Naked Civil Servant'), Bette Bourne returns to the London stage with his acclaimed, multi award-winning performance in Tim Fountain's 'Resident Alien'. A 10-week season opens at the New End Theatre, Hampstead, on Wednesday 28 January and will run to Sunday April 5.

Evening Standard Award Nominees Announced

Whats On Stage is reporting that London's Evening Standard newspaper has published the list of nominees for the 2008 Evening Standard Theatre Awards, the first awards of the UK season.
