Richard Eyre's production of The Last Cigarette, adapted by Hugh Whitemore and Simon Gray from Gray's critically acclaimed The Smoking Diaries, is to transfer to the West End having previously opened the 2009 Season at the Chichester Festival Theatre. Starring Felicity Kendal, Nicholas le Prevost and Jasper Britton, who all perform as Simon Gray, The Last Cigarette will run at Trafalgar Studios from 21 April - 1 August, with opening night 28 April 2009. Designs are by Rob Howell with lighting and projection by John Driscoll and music by George Fenton.

Othello is following Theatre for a New Audience's production of Hamlet, directed by David Esbjornson. Shakespeare's Globe launches its 2009 theatre season - Young Hearts - on Shakespeare's birthday, Thursday 23 April, with artistic director Dominic Dromgoole's production of Romeo and Juliet. It will be the first of nine productions during the Globe's most ambitious season to date, which explores the great expanse of the heart. Shakespeare's heartbreaking tale of these tragic and iconic young lovers is widely considered to be one of the greatest of all love stories, and this will be Dominic's first production of the play.

Hamlet features Christian Camargo in the title role. The production is directed by David Esbjornson. Joining Mr. Camargo will be Alyssa Bresnahan as Gertrude, Alvin Epstein as Polonius, Graham Hamilton as Laertes, Jennifer Ikeda as Ophelia and Patrick Page as Claudius.

The New York Timesi s reporting that Theatre for a New Audience and director, Arin Arbus' critically acclaimed production of Othello will return to the Duke on 42nd Street Theatre, April 15th through 24th. The show will again feature John Douglas Thompson as Othello, Ned Eisenberg as Iago, and Juliet Rylance as Desdemona.
