Colorado Music Festival Announces 2020 Summer Season

The Colorado Music Festival (CMF) in Boulder, Colorado, isn't broadly known outside the state, but it should be. This summer, under the leadership of the recently arrived Music Director Peter Oundjian, the Festival will actually present more 21st-century pieces (16, including two world premieres) than works by Beethoven (13). That reflects Oundjian's commitment to presenting the work of living composers as well as music by masters of the canon. This is the first year of the Festival's five-year commitment to commissioning new works and presenting them in Boulder.

Ballet BC Brings ROMEO + JULIET to the Soraya

The Los Angeles dance event of the season will take place this weekend as The Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts proudly presents Olivier Award Nominee Ballet BC in their stunningly reimagined take on the timeless tale of Romeo + Juliet on Saturday, February 29 at 8:00pm and Sunday, March 1 at 3:00pm. Romeo + Juliet is set to the famous Sergei Prokofiev score and choreographed by French choreographer Medhi Walerski. Following The Soraya performances, Romeo + Juliet will tour to Vancouver and Victoria, British Columbia then to the Sydney Opera House where Ballet BC will make its Australian debut.

The National Ballet of Canada Has Announced Principal Casting for ROMEO AND JULIET

Karen Kain, Artistic Director of The National Ballet of Canada, today announced the principal casting for Romeo and Juliet by acclaimed choreographer Alexei Ratmansky. Pennsylvania Ballet Has Announced 2020-2021 Season MAGIC OF STORIES

Today Pennsylvania Ballet announced a dynamic new season, 'Magic of Stories,' complete with fairytale full length stories, world premieres at the Perelman Theater from choreographers with long-time ties to the company and a sparkling tribute to George Balanchine. Pennsylvania Ballet will also highlight local organizations for each production, including Career Wardrobe and the Audubon Society.

Newton's New Philharmonia Orchestra Continues Silver Anniversary Season With ST. PETERSBURG VIRTUOSOS

Newton's New Philharmonia Orchestra, Francisco Noya, Music Director, continues its Classics Series with a?oeSt. Petersburg Virtuososa??, a celebration of the works  of Pyotr Tchaikovsky and Sergei Prokofiev. The concert will feature Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4 and the polonaise from a?oeEugene Onegina?? as well as a special performance of Prokofiev's Violin Concerto No. 1 with Boston Symphony Orchestra violinist Tatiana Dimitriades. The New Phil will perform a?oeSt. Petersburg Virtuososa?? at the First Baptist Church in Newton on Saturday, March 14th at 7:30 PM and Sunday, March 15th at 3:00 PM.

Karen Kain, Artistic Director of The National Ballet of Canada, today unveiled the 2020/21 season which builds on the company's commitment to create new works, attract the best artists in the world and showcase the company on the international stage. The season features the world premiere of MADDADDAM, a new full-length ballet by the multi-award-winning choreographer Wayne McGregor in collaboration with internationally renowned writer Margaret Atwood. Additional highlights include the North American premiere of Victoria, created by acclaimed choreographer Cathy Marston, and a guest appearance by San Francisco Ballet in its Toronto debut. Today, the Metropolitan Opera announced its 2020-21 season, the first in which Yannick Nézet-Séguin assumes his full breadth of musical duties as the company's Jeanette Lerman-Neubauer Music Director, conducting six productions. His schedule includes the Met premiere of Jake Heggie's Dead Man Walking, the first contemporary opera conducted by the maestro on the Met stage, as part of his ongoing commitment to opera of our time at the Met, which will expand in the seasons to come.

The Granada Theatre, in partnership with Community Arts Music Association (CAMA) of Santa Barbara, Opera Santa Barbara, State Street Ballet, and the Santa Barbara Symphony, will present a special benefit performance of Peter and the Wolf, Sergei Prokofiev's enchanting musical tale of adventure and bravery, at 2 pm on Sunday, February 23. The performance will feature the Santa Barbara Youth Symphony, under the baton of Maestro Nir Kabaretti, with narration by renowned theatre scholar Simon Williams, who will also direct. Brief programs featuring Santa Barbara Youth Opera singers and Gustafson Dance Students from State Street Ballet will open the event. Tickets cost $10 for adults and $100 for VIP access, with proceeds benefiting the Granada Theatre. Children ages 17 and under will be admitted free of charge with a ticket.
