Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) presents I Am (Not) My Mother, based on true stories from and about the women of Frederick. Written by Suzanne Beal and directed by MET Associate Artistic Director Gene Fouche the show made its World Premiere on the MET stage last July to extremely positive reviews and audience response. DC Metro Theatre Arts gave the original production four stars and Charlie Smith emplored, 'everyone go now', in his review for Want2Dish. Since the World Premiere last year the show has received new productions in Baltimore and in Philadelphia (Society Hill Playhouse). Given the tremendously positive response the play has received the Maryland Ensemble Theatre is bringing the show back for a limited run, July 12 through 21 at MET. Community fundraising powerhouse the Harlem Ambassadors has announced that they will team with Brown Paper Tickets with the goal of raising more funds for nonprofits across the country through 2015. In the summer of 1997 a show called Finally Heard: Feminine Heroes of an Uncivil War made its world premiere in Frederick. The show also marked the debut of the company producing the play, Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET). The show was produced at both Frederick Community College and HOOD College.

This set the scene for 'Midnight in Paris,' the 29th annual Fantasy of the Opera Gala benefit hosted by Lyric Opera of Chicago's Guild Board of Directors on Saturday, February 9. The gala benefit raised more than $450,000 net for the world-renowned opera company.

Charles Dickens' classic A Christmas Carol is returning to Frederick for the nineteenth straight year with Maryland Ensemble Theatre's production tonight, December 14 through 16 at the Weinberg Center for the Arts. The cast of over two dozen actors, the two-story set, the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, Future and Tiny Tim will transport audiences to Victorian England as the penny-pinching Ebenezer Scrooge learns the error of his miserly ways and embraces the true spirit of Christmas.
