Austin Playhouse Purchases 2.8 Acre Lot On East Anderson Lane

On Wednesday, April 3, 2019, Austin Playhouse closed on a 2.8 acre site at 1717 E. Anderson Lane, along the 183 frontage road in Northeast Austin. The building site will be developed into a home for the veteran professional theatre as well as serving as a rental facility for other arts organizations. The purchase price of $1,280,664 was primarily funded by a $1 million anonymous contribution and a bridge loan from Comerica Bank.

Julie Halston & Michael Urie To Announce 2018-19 Outer Critics Circle Award Nominations

The Drama League has announced the twelve stage directors who have been selected as the 2019 Directing Fellows of The Drama League Directors Project: NJ Agwuna, Sharifa Elkady, Raz Golden, Chika Ike, Rebecca Marzalek-Kelly, Ismael Lara, Jr., Amanda McRaven, Lindsey Hope Pearlman, Ben Randle, Tai Thompson, Gabriel Torres, and Sophia Watt. They will be publicly introduced to the professional theatre community during the 85th Annual Drama League Awards, which will be held on Friday, May 17, 2019 at the Marriott Marquis Times Square (1535 Broadway). The show runs Friday, March 29, 2019 through Saturday, April 27, 2019. Performances are Fridays at 5:00pm and Saturdays at 10:00am and 12:00pm. MOTHER'S MILK Comes To The Marsh Berkeley, April 26-May 31

Wayne Harris' award-winning, music-infused, spiritual, and uplifting Mother's Milk will return to The Marsh Berkeley. Original songs, traditional blues, and gospel classics come together to underscore an intricate and uplifting narrative on life, death, and the Baptist Church (not to mention the best recipe ever for banana pudding). Set against the background of the civil rights movement, a losing battle with breast cancer, and a slightly inebriated preacher, Mother's Milk tells the story of a young black man finding his way back home.
