Beasley, Dirden & More Star, Leon Directs Huntington Theatre's FENCES 9/11-10/11, Opens 9/16

The Huntington Theatre Company opens its 28th season - a season of American stories - with August Wilson's Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning Fences, the sixth chapter of his groundbreaking ten-play cycle about the 20th century African-American experience. Kenny Leon (Radio Golf, Gem of the Ocean, A Raisin in the Sun), acclaimed director and Wilson's final collaborator before his death, returns to the Huntington to helm the production, which stars John Beasley (Two Trains Running, Jitney, 'Everwood').

Playwrights Horizons Presents THE RETRIBUTIONISTS 8/21 Through 9/27, Opens 9/15

Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) kicks off its 2009/2010 Season with the World Premiere of THE RETRIBUTIONISTS, a new play by Daniel Goldfarb (Modern Orthodox, Adam Baum and the Jew Movie). The production will begin previews on Friday, August 21 with an Opening Night set for Tuesday, September 15 at 7PM. The limited engagement will run through Sunday, September 27 at Playwrights Horizons' Mainstage Theater (416 West 42nd Street).

New Flying Karamazov Brothers Show FLINGS & EROS Premieres At Merrimack Rep 9/10-10/4, Opens 9/13

Music, dance, laughter and juggling combine in the world premiere of Flings & Eros, a new vaudevillian romp by the internationally renowned Flying Karamazov Brothers at Merrimack Repertory Theatre; stage direction by Paul Magid. Performances begin Thursday, September 10 at 7:30PM, with Opening Night on Sunday, September 13 at 7PM, running through October 4. Subscriptions and individual tickets are on sale now.

Casting Announced For THE 39 STEPS Pre-Tour Engagement At La Jolla Playhouse 8/11-9/13

La Jolla Playhouse is pleased to present The 39 Steps, directed by Maria Aitken and adapted for the stage by Patrick Barlow, based on an original concept by Simon Corble and Nobby Dimon, based on the book by John Buchan. The production will run August 11 - September 13 in the Mandell Weiss Theatre (media night: Sunday August 16 at 7:00 pm). The 39 Steps will make its West Coast premiere at La Jolla Playhouse and Seattle Repertory Theatre before starting on a national tour.

The Z Space Studio announces the West Coast premiere of You Can't Get There From Here. Written and performed by Anne Galjour, and directed by Jayne Wenger, You Can't Get There From Here runs from Thursday September 10, 2009 - Sunday September 27, 2009 at Theatre Artaud, 450 Florida Street, San Francisco, CA. Cariani and Bender To Team For Wishcamper Helmed 'IRMA VEP' At Old Globe 7/31-9/6

The Old Globe Executive Producer Lou Spisto has announced the cast and creative team of Charles Ludlam's gothic spoof, The Mystery of Irma Vep. Jeffrey Bender and John Cariani are a 'cast of thousands,' taking on the roles of Lady Enid, Lord Edgar, Nicodemus Underwood - and a mummy - among many others. Directed by Henry Wishcamper.

Young Conservatory is proud to present members of its Junior Young Company in Moontel Six, Part 1 by A.C.T. favorite Constance Congdon (world premiere adaptations of A Mother, The Misanthrope, and The Imaginary Invalid at A.C.T.) and directed by Amelia Stewart. Life on the moon isn't easy, especially if you're a mutant teen.
