Cygnet Theatre is pleased to announce the appointment of Marinda Peugh as the new Development Director.

Thanks to a new program launched by Cygnet Theatre, the holidays will be a bit brighter for area military and their families. SEATS FOR SOLDIERS provides free tickets to the classic holiday musical, A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Adapted by Sean Murray with original score by Billy Thompson, this production is a re-imagined take on the original holiday classic featuring lively music, unique puppets and live sound effects.

Cygnet Theatre will continue its nine-year tradition of presenting a holiday show suitable for all ages. This season welcomes the return of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. The fully staged production runs November 27 - December 27 at Cygnet Theatre in Old Town. Opening Night for Media is Saturday, December 5th at 8:00pm.

Cygnet's tradition of shows performed in rotating rep continues with Noel Coward's HAY FEVER (dir. Rob Lutfy) and THE VORTEX (dir. Sean Murray). These two plays turned Coward into an overnight sensation, one light and madcap, the other dark and shocking. Written at the same time, they represent opposite sides of Coward's talent. San Diego favorite Rosina Reynolds takes on the strong female roles in both these productions. Opening night for both productions is Today, October 3rd at 3 (HAY FEVER) and 8 pm (THE VORTEX). Cygnet Theatre is pleased to announce a Concert Staged-Reading of the Tony Award-winning musical EVITA, with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice. The two-night-only performance, presented on Monday, August 3rd, and Tuesday, August 4th at 7 pm at Cygnet Theatre in Old Town, will feature some of San Diego's brightest musical theatre stars.

Cygnet Theatre will kick off its 13th season in July as director Sean Murray mounts the San Diego Premiere of Dogfight, a romantic and comic musical adaptation of the 1991 movie with River Phoenix and Lili Taylor. Winner of the Lucille Lortel Award for Best Musical in 2013, Dogfight represents the new generation of voices in musical theatre creation. The production runs July 16 - August 23. Opening night for media is July 25.

Cygnet Theatre literally ends Season 12 in a BIG way with the San Diego premiere of The Whale. Emerging playwright Samuel D. Hunter's (The Few) big hearted and humorously touching play features a six hundred pound recluse whose issues from his past have brought him to a crisis in the present. This smart and subversive tale features sharp, provocative language and finds heart in challenging situations. The Whale begins previews on May 14. It opens on May 23 and runs through June 14.

Premiering at New York's Roundabout Theatre in 2011, Karam was hailed as 'a major new voice in American Theater.' His brutally funny and explosive comedy was a finalist for the 2012 Pulitzer Prize and has received multiple other awards including the 2012 Drama Critics Circle, Outer Critics Circle, Lucille Lortel and Hull-Warriner Awards for Best Play. The production runs tonight, January 15 - February 15 at Cygnet Theatre in Old Town. Opening Night for Media is Saturday, January 24, 8 pm.

The airwaves of WCYG Playhouse of the Air will be silent this season as Cygnet returns to presenting a fully staged production. This 'little musical ghost story' runs November 28-December 28 at Cygnet Theatre in Old Town. Opening Night for Media is Saturday, December 6, 8 pm.

Cygnet Theatre, in collaboration with Playwrights Project, is proud to present the third annual Playwrights in Process: New Play Festival. Cygnet Theatre has long been committed to celebrating human stories through the medium of live theatre. In addition to presenting four readings of new plays, the three-day festival will include three workshops for audiences, playwrights, and theatre artists. Attendees will be able to engage further with each playwright during facilitated talk-backs following the readings.

Cygnet Theatre has long been committed to celebrating human stories through the medium of live theatre. Playwrights in Process will present four readings of new plays by selected Southern California playwrights. The four winning plays were selected from more than 160 submissions - more than triple the number from last year - with three of the playwrights coming from the San Diego region.
