For two nights only in honor of Halloween, Cygnet Theatre resurrects the ever-popular musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Hugh Wheeler. Directed by Sean Murray, the show runs October 30th and 31st and costumes are highly encouraged! Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street is a chilling, suspenseful and heart-pounding masterpiece of barber-ism and culinary crime. With a mix of macabre and howling funny dark humor, we meet Sweeney Todd, a barber seeking revenge, and Mrs. Lovett, the proprietress of the downstairs pie shop. Together, the two take their passions to harrowing heights and soon have the people of 19th century London lining up for meat pies!

Originally seen on the Cygnet Stage in 2010, many of the original cast return, along with some local favorites. Portraying the scheming barber Sweeney Todd is Sean Murray. The resourceful pie-maker, Mrs. Lovett, is played by Melissa Fernandes. The cast includes Michael Cusimano, Katy Tang, Tom Zohar, Sandy Campbell, Kürt Norby, Debra Wanger, EY Washington, and Bryan Banville. Tickets are on sale now and may be purchased in person at the box office located at 4040 Twiggs St., by calling 619-337-1525 or by visiting www.cygnettheatre.com.
