This year, Main Street Theatre Works (MSTW) celebrates 25 years of producing theatre in Amador County. And this is our 16th year at the Kennedy Mine Amphitheatre in Jackson. We're kicking off our 2019 Summer Season with the Ken Ludwig comedy, Leading Ladies, directed by Allen Pontes.
Synchronicity Theatre Awarded Community Foundation For Greater Atlanta's 2018 Managing For Excellence Award

Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta announces that Synchronicity Theatre and YMCA of Metro Atlanta are 2018 Managing for Excellence award recipients. A stalwart, highly competitive recognition among the 4,300 nonprofits across Atlanta's 23-county region, Managing for Excellence recognizes operational innovation and effectiveness for a well-run organization and is given to both a small and large nonprofit annually. Through more than 67 years of work with nonprofits, the Community Foundation has identified key factors that drive an organization's success and community impact-including board and staff engagement, sound fiscal health, investment in the organization's talent and infrastructure, thoughtful evaluation practices and commitment to continuous improvement. Managing for Excellence launched in 1984 to recognize and reward nonprofits that exemplify these strong characteristics.

This year, Main Street Theatre Works (MSTW) celebrates its 15th Year at the beautiful Kennedy Mine Amphitheatre in Jackson. Kicking off their 2018 Summer Season, MSTW presents Mama Won't Fly, by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten, and directed by Allen Pontes, who brought you last year's huge hit Doublewide, Texas, also by Jones, Hope & Wooten.

Aladdin the 1992 Disney animated feature about a protagonist who strives to overcome great obstacles and fulfill a dream is the magic formula that drives most Hollywood blockbusters. For over 20 years this action-packed love story has delighted audiences with colorful fantasy and lofty fun, earning two Oscars, four Grammys including Alan Menken and Tim Rice's Song Of The Year A Whole New World, and iconic melodies and vocal performances, most notably by the late, great Robin Williams who voiced the Genie.
Mercury Theatre Returns to the Live Airwaves with 7th Annual Radio Show Fundraiser

The finest radio dramas of the 1930's was The Mercury Theater On The Air, founded by Orson Welles and John Houseman. Together, they presented many classic pieces of literature, and shook the country with it's terrifying staging of War of the Worlds. Main Street Theatre Works (MSTW) is re-creating one of these literary classic radio plays, Around the World in 80 Days, complete with live sound effects.

Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) presents a grown up's prequel to Peter Pan, where a dozen actors play more than 100 unforgettable characters. An apprentice starcatcher (13 year-old Molly Aster) takes to the high seas with a trunk full of magic 'starstuff' and three orphan boys while being pursued by a boat-load of pirates. Peter and the Starcatcher was written by Rick Elice (Jersey Boys, Addams Family) with music by Wayne Barker. This adaptation is based on the 2006 novel of the same name by humorist Dave Barry and suspense writer Ridley Pearson.

Main Street Theatre Works (MSTW) kicks off its 2016 Summer Season at the Kennedy Mine Amphitheatre in Jackson, with The Explorers Club, by Nell Benjamin. The Explorers Club is a comedic look at Victorian adventurers who ponder the mysteries of science and nature, while genteelly getting blotto. What better opportunity for you to pack a picnic dinner, your favorite beverage and take in all the crazy adventures of these infamous explorers. The Explorers Club runs every Today and Saturday, June 24th - July 23rd. Doors open at 6:30 for picnics; show starts at 8:00. Patrons are encouraged to come early with their dinners, chairs and jackets. The Kennedy Mine Amphitheatre is located at 1127 North Main Street in Jackson.

Sing For Hope Pianos to be Unveiled in NYC, 6/6

Sing for Hope will celebrate the fifth anniversary of its legendary community arts program, The Sing for Hope Pianos, with a public unveiling of all 50 pianos on June 6(th) at 28 Liberty Plaza in New York City. The event will feature Tony Award-winning actress Lea Salonga, Tony Award- and Drama Desk-nominee Daphne Rubin-Vega, former Late Night with David Letterman bandleader Paul Shaffer, the dynamic Anderson & Roe Piano Duo, cast members from On Site Opera's acclaimed Figaro Trilogy, saxophonist/composer Ted Nash, singer/songwriter Pete Muller, and other stars of the New York music scene, along with student musicians from Sing for Hope's programs.
