Singer and songwriter Joyce Grant determined at an early age that she was going to be a singer, and spent her elementary and high school days performing in choir and musical theater. She is the great-great-niece of famed ragtime composer Scott Joplin and has been singing jazz in Bay Area venues for over 20 years. A mezzo-soprano with a soulful voice, Grant has a performance resume which includes a wide range of venues including the Empire Plush Room and Zingari Ristorante in San Francisco, the Ledson Hotel in Sonoma, Sam's Chowder House in Half Moon Bay, the Sticky Rice in Fairfield, Carneros in Napa, Slates in Walnut Creek, Joe's of Lafayette, and the Woodminster Amphitheater just to name a few.
With an enthusiasm that is contagious, world-class credentials and an astounding virtuosity, Jeffrey Siegel returns to Stage One with Keyboard Conversations. Launching his 2018-19 series of engagements (his eighth at the Harris Center) with a commemoration of Rachmaninoff and Debussy, Mr. Siegel will offer comments on these two beloved composers, and then give a virtuosic performance of several piano masterpieces. His August program will include the famous C Sharp Minor Prelude, Clair de lune, and stirring Etudes of both composers; a lively Q&A will follow. American ragtime and early jazz bandleader, arranger, and composer, James Reese Europe, will be celebrated at a World War I Centennial Tribute Concert on June 8, 2018 at Symphony Space. The evening will be presented by New York Jazzharmonic Traditional Jazz Sextet under the baton of Ron Wasserman and vocalist Aubrey Barnes. The virtuoso jazz pianist Dick Hyman will perform at the Bickford Theatre on Monday, May 7, at 7:30 PM. His solo concert, "Dick Hyman Plays the Decades," features his interpretations of popular songs from Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker" written in 1892 to Stephen Sondheim's "Losing My Mind" from the 1971 musical Follies. Some of the other selections to be performed are the Lennon-McCartney hit "Norwegian Wood," the popular standard "Stella by Starlight," and "I Feel Pretty" in celebration of the 100th birthday of Leonard Bernstein. Mr. Hyman also promises to perform his tour-de-force version of Fats Waller's "Minor Drag."
The Lark Theater is pleased to present the 1926 silent film, The General. Inspired by the memoir The Great Locomotive Chase by William Pittenger, The General is a true story of an event that occurred during the American Civil War and stars Buster Keaton who co-directed the film with Clyde Bruckman. The General is now often ranked among the greatest American films ever made. The evening will also include a special LIVE piano accompaniment by Frederick Hodges on the Lark's NEW Mason and Hamlin Grand Piano.
The critically-acclaimed concert pianist Christopher Johnson will make a rare New Jersey appearance when he performs at the Bickford Theatre on Sunday, May 6, with a program which features the New Jersey premiere of his new composition "Rhapsody on America the Beautiful." The program also includes well-known works by Frederic Chopin, Scott Joplin, Edward McDowell, and the solo-piano version of "Rhapsody in Blue" by George Gershwin.

Paper Mill Playhouse is now presenting 'The Sting,' an exhilarating world premiere musical. Directed by John Rando with choreography by Warren Carlyle and musical direction by Fred Lassen, the show is Broadway bound and it's easy to see why. This wonderfully staged production has a great plot, a fabulous variety of musical numbers, and features a stellar cast.
