Composer Scott Alan will perform at the Harvest Rain Theatre Company's Powerhouse Theatre on September 3 at 7:30pm, the company has announced on its official website. In addition to Alan himself, the concert will feature musical theatre performers from Brisbane, who will perform Alan's songs.

An array of emerging songwriters will perform music from their own catalogues at the Laurie Beechman Theatre on August 9.

Simply The Music of Scott Alan will play at the New Players Theatre on Sunday 26th September.

TACT/THE ACTORS COMPANY THEATRE (Scott Alan Evans, Cynthia Harris, Simon Jones - Co-Artistic Directors) is proud to announce the inauguration of a new educational initiative: the TACT ACADEMY. This new program's focus will be the training of young actors in a variety of methods and modalities, all of which center on creating theatre from the text and the actors' ability to bring it to life - a core principal of the TACT aesthetic. They are kicking off this initiative this summer with a Theatre Camp/Acting Workshop just for teens (students from 13 to 17) called TEEN INTENSIVE.

This week, we are taking a listen to two wonderful West End-related winners featuring the stars of two witch-related West End musicals - THE WITCHES OF EASTWICK and WICKED - courtesy of SimG Records: Caroline Sheen's RAISE THE CURTAIN and Annalene Beechey's CLOSE YOUR EYES. These two delicious divas-in-training have proven that they have the talent, skill and technique to entertain us for many years to come onstage, but just how well do their first solo album efforts showcase their considerable abilities? Singing everything from Sondheim, William Finn and Stephen Schwartz to Adam Guettel, Jason Robert Brown, David Yazbeck and Stiles & Drewe, as well as some Joni Mitchell and Tracy Chapman thrown in for good measure, there's surely enough to satisfy all with much more than mere morsels to enjoy. All of this appreciable merriment (and even a small sampling of 'Away In A Manger' courtesy of Mitchell) and formidable entertainment comes with mostly unadorned accompaniment, as well, giving these ladies a true chance to shine their clearest and brightest in a solo spotlight all their own!

Last week, Dee Roscioli performed her cabaret debut, 'Decidedly Dee' as part of the Broadway at Birdland series. Fresh off her Broadway run as Elphaba in Wicked, Dee explored her un-green side with a mix of new songs and old favorites. In her cabaret debut, she performed songs penned by friends, including 'See' from David Austin, 'Reasons' by Bobby Cronin and 'Say Goodbye' by Scott Alan. Dee also sang more widely-known songs like 'Many the Miles' by Sara Bareilles, 'People Get Ready' by The Impressions and 'I Think it's Going to Rain Today' by Randy Newman.
