Composer Augusta Read Thomas to Premiere Four Pieces in 2012 - 2013

A440 Arts Group announces four major world premieres by American composer Augusta Read Thomas taking place in the upcoming 2012-2013 season, including commissions from the University of Notre Dame, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, China, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Praised for her extraordinary compositional versatility, Augusta Read Thomas has been praised as "a prodigious talent" (Russell Platt, The New Yorker) whose music "fairly explodes with an extroverted boldness of utterance audiences and musicians alike find challenging yet immediate. Jason Vieaux Announces June NYC Shows

On Friday, June 22 at 7:30pm, guitarist Jason Vieaux will perform at Mannes College The New School For Music (150 West 85th Street) as part of the 12thAnnual New York Guitar Seminar and on Sunday, June 24 at 4:30pm, after the success of last summer's recital, he will return to the Caramoor International Music Festival (149 Girdle Ridge Road).

Angela Meade to Debut at Deustche Oper Berlin and Major U.S. Festivals, Summer 2012

The Metropolitan Opera's 2012 Beverly Sills Artist Angela Meade starred in the company's recent production of Ernani. In May, the soprano tackles another Verdi heroine, making her Deutsche Oper Berlin debut as Lucrezia in two concert performances of I due Foscari. More high-profile firsts follow in August when Meade makes a trio of major U.S. music festival debuts, headlining "A Night at the Opera" with the Cleveland Orchestra at the Blossom Music Festival; "Italian Opera Night" with the Philadelphia Orchestra under Yannick Nezet-Seguin at Saratoga, and Mahler's "Symphony of a Thousand" with Robert Spano in Aspen. In June - as a preview of next season's debut with Washington National Opera - she portrays the title role of Bellini's Norma in concert at Oregon's Astoria Music Festival, and in July she sings Leonora in Verdi's Il trovatore at the Festival Castell de Peralada in Spain.

Subscriptions are now on sale for the Columbus Symphony's 2012-13 Masterworks and Pops seasons. Masterworks will continue to present eight concerts at the Ohio Theatre and four concerts at the Southern Theatre. All Pops concerts will remain at the Ohio Theatre.
