The Jungle's 26th Season continues with the regional premiere of CONSTELLATIONS by British playwright Nick Payne, starring Ivey Award-winning Anna Sundberg (Venus in Fur, Detroit) and Ron Menzel (Macbeth, Orson Welles Rehearses 'Moby Dick'). Gary Gisselman, who directed last summer's Jungle hit, You Can't Take It With You, is at the helm of this sophisticated, sexy two-character drama. Constellations opens April 15 and runs through May 29 at the Lyn-Lake neighborhood theater, 2951 Lyndale Ave. S. in Minneapolis.
Steppenwolf Theatre Company has announced the addition of Constellations by Nick Payne to this summer's lineup. Directed by Steppenwolf Artistic Producer Jonathan Berry, the Chicago premiere production features ensemble member Jon Michael Hill as 'Roland' (CBS's Elementary, Steppenwolf's Superior Donuts). Casting for the role of 'Marianne' will be announced at a later date. Constellations debuted in London at the Royal Court to critical acclaim before moving on to successful runs in both The West End and on Broadway. Now, according to The Wall Street Journal, ATG plans to open a 'British-style club above the Hudson Theatre after it relaunches the historic venue for Broadway use.'
According to Variety, Broadway will be getting another theatre in the near future. The UK's Ambassador Theatre Group, which owns the recently renovated Lyric Theatre, will renovate the Hudson Theatre next. The venue, currently a part of the Millennium Hotel, will be turned back into a Broadway house. Currently used for various corporate events, the theatre hasn't been home to a Broadway show since 1968.
