Jungle Theater's CONSTELLATIONS Opens 4/15

By:
The Jungle's 26th Season continues with the regional premiere of CONSTELLATIONS by British playwright Nick Payne, starring Ivey Award-winning Anna Sundberg (Venus in Fur, Detroit) and Ron Menzel (Macbeth, Orson Welles Rehearses 'Moby Dick'). Gary Gisselman, who directed last summer's Jungle hit, You Can't Take It With You, is at the helm of this sophisticated, sexy two-character drama. Constellations opens April 15 and runs through May 29 at the Lyn-Lake neighborhood theater, 2951 Lyndale Ave. S. in Minneapolis.

Nick Payne's Constellations was a huge hit in London and New York, where it had a Lincoln Center run with Jake Gyllenhaal and Ruth Wilson, earning her a Tony nomination for Best Actress, and Drama League nominations for Best Play, Best Actor and Best Actress.

The 75-minute play explores free will and friendship; it's also about parallel universes, love-and honey. The spellbinding, romantic journey begins with a simple encounter between Marianne, a physicist, and Roland, a beekeeper. But what happens next defies the boundaries of the known - delving into the infinite possibilities of their relationship and raising questions about the difference between choice and destiny.

Gisselman's creative team features the talents of Kate Sutton Johnson (scenic and costume design), Barry Browning (lighting design) and C. Andrew Mayer (sound design).

New this SeasonThe 2016 Season includes the new Jungle's "Come Early, Stay Late" program, which offers pre- and post-show conversations at every performance. Come early (one hour prior to curtain) and stay late sessions (immediately following the show) will give audience members the opportunity to discuss the play's themes and ideas with people in the know.
