Miracle Theatre presents hip-hop poet and actor Paul Flores in a spoken-word performance by hip-hop artist Paul Flores, incorporating original work by students of the Spanish English International School (SEIS). Flores will perform at Milagro Theatre on February 13, 2010.

Behind the Book, a non-profit that promotes literacy in New York City public schools, will host an evening of spoken word and musical entertainment to benefit the organization. The event, Louder than Words, will be held at the Bowery Poetry Club on Friday, February 12th, from 7-9 pm.

Paying homage to and exploring the rich legacy of African Americans and people of African descent, Festival events (August 1-October 15) featuring live music, visual art, and new works for the stage will take place in San Francisco at Yerba Buena Gardens, the Main San Francisco Public Library, the African American Art and Culture Complex, and the Ella Hill Hutch Community Center. Written and performed by Lemon Andersen (Russell Simmons Def Poetry Jam), and directed by Elise Thoron, County of Kings will open tonight, October 12 at The Public Theater. The show has been in previews since September 29 and will run for a six week limited engagement.
