Fox to Develop Movie of THE HATE THAT YOU GIVE Author's New Book

Fox 2000 has bought the movie rights to “The Hate U Give” author Angie Thomas's upcoming novel “On the Come Up,” according to Variety.

Today, Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) announced the initial line-up for the 2019 SCAD aTVfest, Atlanta's only festival dedicated to television. Now in its seventh year, the university's annual signature event celebrating the television industry will be held at SCADshow on February 7 - 9, 2019. Entertainment Weekly (EW) will serve as the first ever Official Media Partner for SCAD aTVfest.

Ryan Coogler's “Black Panther” was named the year's Best Film today by the African American Film Critics Association (AAFCA), the world's largest group of black film critics comprised of leading film critics from across the country. FOX is announcing premiere dates for THE ORVILLE (Dec. 30), GORDON RAMSAY'S 24 HOURS TO HELL AND BACK (Jan. 2), GOTHAM (Jan. 3) and PROVEN INNOCENT (Feb. 15), as well as the all-new COSMOS installment, COSMOS: POSSIBLE WORLDS (March 3). As previously announced, new celebrity singing competition THE MASKED SINGER will premiere Jan. 2, new epic thriller THE PASSAGE will premiere Jan. 14 and all-new live musical event RENT will air Jan. 27.

BWW Previews: THE HATE U GIVE Movie Release Bumped Up 2 Weeks!

This week, Fox2000 announced that because THE HATE U GIVE has had such strong word of mouth, it will release two weeks early. It will premiere in limited release on October 5th, expand on October 12th, and go wide on its original release date of October 19th. Depending on where you live, you may be able to catch it up to two weeks early.

Showtime Renews THE AFFAIR for Fifth and Final Season

SHOWTIME has renewed its Golden Globe® Award winning drama series THE AFFAIRfor a fifth and final season. Season four of the series is currently airing on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT, with the finale airing onAugust 19. Last night, the first full trailer for upcoming movie The Hate U Give dropped during the BET Awards. Less than 12 hours later, the trailer already has over 1.1 million views on YouTube. Fitting for what is hyped to be one of the most important movies of the year, especially considering the novel has spent the last 68 weeks on the New York Times Best Sellers List since it debuted last February--and many of those weeks have been spent at #1, where it is residing once more this week. THE HATE U GIVE is Angie Thomas' first novel and has already won or been shortlisted for several awards, including the prestigious National Book Aard Longlist, Michael L. Printz Award, William C. Morris Award, and Coretta Scott King Award. Her sophomore novel, ON THE COME UP, will release in February 2019.
