Thirteen gifted students from drama schools across the UK have been awarded with £55,500 worth of bursaries by the Society of London Theatre (SOLT) in order to help them complete their training. The Utah Symphony will make a rare visit to Utah County for a performance at the SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre in Orem on Monday, June 25 @ 8pm. The concert, called "Under the Stars…and the Stripes" features a program full of patriotic and pop favorites. General admission tickets are $14 for adults and $12 for children (age 3-11), students (w/ID) and seniors (age 65+). Patrons can bring a blanket or rent a chair for $1.00. Reserved seating areas with a chair range from $14-20.

Today in 1977, Pippin closed at the Minskoff Theatre, after having played 1944 performances. Pippin is a musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Roger O. Hirson. Bob Fosse, who directed the original Broadway production, also contributed to the libretto. The musical uses the premise of a mysterious acting troupe, led by a Leading Player, to tell the story of Pippin, a young prince on his search for meaning and significance. The original cast included: Eric Berry, Jill Clayburgh, Leland Palmer, Irene Ryan, Ben Vereen, and John Rubinstein.

The 68th annual THEATRE WORLD AWARDS, which will take place on Tuesday, June 5th at 2 pm at The Belasco Theatre, 111 West 44th Street, NYC., will include special performances by Broadway favorites Brian Stokes Mitchell, Michael Cerveris, Howard McGillin and Stephanie Umoh. The by-invitation-only ceremony will present Theatre World Awards to 12 actors for their Outstanding Broadway or Off-Broadway Debut Performances during the 2011-2012 theatrical season. The event also includes presentation of the 4th Annual Dorothy Loudon Award for Excellence. This year The Theatre World Awards will have ASL interpretation.
In a return engagement with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (IPO), The Collegiate Chorale will perform 11 concerts in Tel Aviv and Haifa with the IPO under the baton of renowned conductors Zubin Mehta and Riccardo Muti. They will then travel with the IPO to Austria to make their Salzburg Festival debut, the first performance there by an American choir since the Chicago Symphony Chorus appeared in 1989.

The event was held in the Annenberg Theater at the Palm Springs Art Museum, and featured a conversation with Schwartz as well as performances of his stage and movie musical hits. Directed and moderated by Scott Logsdon (Les Miserables), the evening included performances from Tony nominee Andrea McArdle (Annie), Hunter Parrish (Broadway's Godspell revival and Showtime's 'Weeds'), Kate Flannery (NBC's 'The Office'), Pamla Vale Abramson, Melissa Batalles, Garrett Hoy, Ben Reece, Haviland Stillwell (Les Miserables and Fiddler on the Roof) and Laura L.Thomas. The Jewish Museum presents Power to the Portrait Family Day, a fun-filled multi-generational event celebrating the colorful worlds of artists Kehinde Wiley and Edouard Vuillard today, May 20 from 12 noon to 4 pm. Activities include two performances by Jukebox Radio, a huge drop-in art workshop, and self-guided family gallery hunts. The family day is inspired by The Jewish Museum's exhibitions, Kehinde Wiley/The World Stage: Israel and Edouard Vuillard: A Painter and His Muses, 1890-1940. This event is free with Museum admission.
