THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES to Make Off-Broadway Return in Spanish, Begin. May 6

Eve Ensler's groundbreaking show, The Vagina Monologues, will return in a new form when the first New York City revival opens for a Spanish language engagement at its original off-Broadway home. Los Monologos de la Vagina will begin performances at the Westside Theatre (407 West 43rd Street) on May 6 . Opening night will be announced. Mexican director Jaime Matarredona helms the production. It is produced by Morris Gilbert and Federico Gonzalez Compean. This will mark the first time that a mainstream off-Broadway theatre has hosted a commercial Spanish language play for an ongoing run.

Review Roundup: CESAR CHAVEZ Opens on Friday

Director Diego Luna's biopic of California farm worker, labor leader, and civil rights activist opens in theaters on Friday. The film stars Michael Peña as César Chávez, America Ferrera as his wife, Helen, and Rosario Dawson as Chávez's National Farm Workers Association co-founder Dolores Huerta. Also featured are Wes Bentley, Gabriel Mann, and John Malkovich.

Frank Miller's graphic novel series SIN CITY hasn't seen the big screen in almost ten years, but now Miller and filmmaker Robert Rodriguez are reuniting for SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR. 12 YEARS A SLAVE, DALLAS BUYERS CLUB and NEBRASKA Top 2014 Film Independent Spirit Awards; Winners Announced!

Film Independent, the nonprofit arts organization that produces the Spirit Awards and the Los Angeles Film Festival, handed out top honors to 12 Years a Slave, Dallas Buyers Club and Nebraska at this afternoon's 29th Film Independent Spirit Awards. Blue Jasmine, Fruitvale Station, Blue is the Warmest Color, Short Term 12, This is Martin Bonner and 20 Feet From Stardom also received awards at the ceremony, which is held in a tent on the beach in Santa Monica.

Photo Coverage: Friars Club Honors Nicole Henry

Many show business greats have been honored by the Friars Club, and have performed before an audience of entertainment savvy members at the club house on 55th street. Nicole Henry was the latest addition to that list on Feb. 10. This great tradition was continued in the Frank Sinatra Dining Room with an event produced by Friar Historian Bruce Charet and co-produced by Friar Jeff Leibowitz. Singer/pianist Loston Harris was also on the bill. Rosario Dawson hosted the evening of great dining and great music.

Larry King Becomes Dean of Friars Club

The Friars Club today announced that Peabody Award-winning radio, television and internet show host Larry King has been appointed as the new Dean of the Friars Club, taking over for Freddie Roman. As Dean, which is also known as the President of the club, King will work closely with the Friars Club's Abbot Jerry Lewis, overseeing the Board of Governors on all matters surrounding the “Monastery,” including participating in the famous Roasts and dinners, as well as other events happening in and around the Club, for the next two years. The appointment will be made official at a special ceremony at the Friars Club.

Paradise Factory to Re-Open After 2-Year Renovation with SHAPE OF SOMETHING SQUASHED, Begin. 2/17

The celebrated, award-winning downtown film/theater cooperative The Paradise Factory will re-open following a 2-year, $4 million renovation with the world premiere of Tom Noonan's comedy the SHAPE of SOMETHING SQUASHED. Preview performances are February 17 and 18 prior to the official press opening February 26, 2014 at the new Paradise Factory venue, 64E4 (64 East 4th St.) in Manhattan. One of the highlights of the renovation is the addition of a new performance space, giving The Paradise Factory two performance spaces for the first time in its 30-year history.

MoMI to Screen Five Films Featuring Zoe Bell, 1/7

Zoë Bell, the international action icon discovered by Quentin Tarantino, will appear at Museum of the Moving Image with a preview screening of her new film Raze, on Tuesday, January 7, 2014. In this exciting and relentlessly hyperviolent action film directed by Josh Waller, she stars as a woman forced to do battle with other innocents for the amusement of unseen spectators. Leading in to this special screening and appearance, the Museum will also present a retrospective of her work—chronicling her transformation from stuntwoman to star—in the films Whip It, Death Proof, and Kill Bill: Vol. 1 and Kill Bill: Vol. 2 on January 4 and 5. The ABFF (American Black Film Festival) today announced that it is reviving the Black Movie Awards (BMA), which recognizes and celebrates the accomplishments of persons of African descent in the motion picture industry, as an Internet-based awards presentation.
