Grammy Award winner John Paul White is set to continue his North American tour in support of his new solo album The Hurting Kind (out now on Single Lock Records) with a run of west coast performances with Shovels & Rope. The 47-year old step-father of a young country artist had been diagnosed with stage IV cancer and told there was nothing more that could be done. Music Health Alliance helped get him accepted into an out-of-state clinical trial, fill out and submit disability paperwork and find free housing near the hospital. A 45-year old single mom working in concert promotion lost group health coverage and a few days later her daughter broke her leg. Music Health Alliance advocated on her behalf, helping her to apply for coverage through the ACA marketplace, proof of eligibility and negotiated with the insurance company to back date her coverage and cover the expenses, saving the family over $2,000 in out-of-pocket medical expenses. A 61-year old drummer with over 30 years of professional experience suffered a blood borne infection in his eye. Without insurance, he was faced with over $45,000 in medical bills and was told that he would not be able to get diagnostic work done to save his retina without advance payment. Music Health Alliance facilitated a financial aid application with the hospital and was able to get the entire bill for his emergency room visit, surgery and hospital stay written off. A grant from the Ben Eyestone Fund gave him access to an ophthalmologist and a glaucoma specialist where he continues to receive treatment. He is back on the road now with a multi-platinum recording artist.

Celebrated songwriters Rosanne Cash and Burton Cummings, American Idol winner Ruben Studdard, returning favorites Tommy Emmanueland Lea Salonga, and Whose Line is it Anyway? stars Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood are just a few of the artists set to appear at the Lisa Smith Wengler Center for the Arts at Pepperdine University during its 2019-2020 season.

The New York Guitar Festival and Arts Brookfield will present “Memphis Minnie: In Search of the Hoodoo Lady,” a free, outdoor concert celebrating the life and music of influential blues guitarist Memphis Minnie. The Saturday, June 1st, 7pm event will be held at Brookfield Place's Waterfront Plaza in lower Manhattan. 

International arts curator and leader Chad Herzog is joining the University of Arizona as the executive director of UA Presents, effective Aug. 12.

The Chan Centre for the Performing Arts at the University of British Columbia (UBC) announces its 2019/20 series, featuring empowering narratives from marginalized communities, vibrant exaltations of multiculturalism, and breathtaking musicality in the Chan Shun Concert Hall. Over the course of nine concerts, extraordinary talent from around the world will converge in Vancouver, including an icon of Americana, the height of jazz royalty, and a compelling Norwegian songstress. Also just announced is the 2019/20 Beyond Words series, featuring four heartrending interdisciplinary performances that affirm the importance of diversity in storytelling.

 The Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center will present Broadway legend Patti LuPone on Saturday, July 20 at 8:00pm, and The Fab Faux performing a celebration of the 50th anniversary of Abbey Road on Friday, August 2 at 8:00pm. Tickets go on sale to Mahaiwe members on Thursday, December 20 and to the general public on Friday, December 28. Berklee President Roger H. Brown will present three-time Tony and Grammy-Award winning Alex Lacamoire (B.M. '95,), award-winning actor and 10-time Grammy-Award winning musician Justin Timberlake, and five-time Grammy-Award winning Missy Elliott with honorary Doctor of Music degrees at Berklee College of Music's commencement ceremony, Saturday, May 11, at the 7,000-seat Agganis Arena at Boston University.

Principal Guest Conductor David Charles Abell returns to his hometown of Philadelphia for Cole Porter's Broadway: Too Darn Hot, the explosive penultimate performance of The Philly POPS 40th Anniversary Season, April 12-14 at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts.

Carnegie Hall's citywide festival, Migrations: The Making of America kicks off with Live from Here with Chris Thile on Saturday, March 9 at 5:45 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage. Debs Composer's Chair Chris Thile is joined by Grammy Award-winning banjo player Béla Fleck, renowned bassist Edgar Meyer, multi-award winning Gaelic singer Julie Fowlis, and Irish-American singer and songwriter Aoife O'Donovan for an evening of traditional Scots, Irish, and American folk music.

Following his sold out show this summer at the Triad Theater in NYC, Robert Bannon brings his new one man concert event, 'Unfinished Business: The Sequel' to NJ this March. He will be accompanied by John Urban on piano. The event will take place over two days, March 2nd and 3rd, at Peak PAC in Ridgefield NJ.

The International Festival of Arts & Ideas will present its 9thAnnual Visionary Leadership Award to activist, author, and Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter, Rosanne Cash, at an Award Luncheon and Ceremony on February 26, 2019, at the Omni New Haven Hotel at Yale (155 Temple Street).

Schimmel Center at Pace University continues its 2018-19 series of World Music and Dance with Ireland and America, a musical retrospective of Irish American history performed by Larry Kirwan, co-founder and frontman of the New York City-based Celtic rock band Black 47, on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 7:30pm. Bay Area Cabaret welcomes celebrated vocalist Catherine Russell in her Venetian Room debut on Sunday, March 24 at 5 p.m. Ms. Russell will perform selections from her acclaimed show, Harlem on My Mind for which her recording won a 2016 Grammy Nomination for Best Jazz Vocal Album. For the first time before a San Francisco audience, Ms. Russell will also perform songs from her highly anticipated March '19 release Alone Together ("Errand Girl for Rhythm", "He May be your Dog, but he's Wearing my Collar", "Is You or is You Ain't my Baby").
