Christmas is right around the corner, and so is Shakespeare & Company's annual production of David Sedaris' irreverent Christmas memoir, The Santaland Diaries. Once again directed by Artistic Director Tony Simotes, this will be the third and final year Shakespeare & Company calls on an actor to don the regulation pointy-toed socks. This year, Shakespeare & Company welcomes longtime Company member David Joseph Hansen to play Sedaris' less-than-merry autobiographical self, Crumpet the Elf.

Freestyle Digital Media LLC (FDM) has acquired all rights North America (excluding US theatrical) for director Margaret Whitton's colorful romantic comedy A BIRD OF THE AIR from Tashtego Films LLC. Based on Joe Coomer's acclaimed novel The Loop, the film stars Jackson Hurst ("Drop Dead Diva") and Rachel Nichols ("Conan the Barbarian"), and is from an adaptation by screenwriter Roger Towne. Produced by Steven Tabakin and Margaret Whitton, and executive produced by Warren Spector, the film will debut on April 10, 2012. A BIRD OF THE AIR was theatrically released in the USA by Paladin in the fall of 2011.

For the first time in its history of visiting the United States, the Royal Shakespeare Company will perform five of Shakespeare's plays in repertory, for a total of 45 performances this summer. The company is presented by Lincoln Center Festival, and Park Avenue Armory, in association with The Ohio State University.
As previously announced, Lincoln Center Festival 2011, which runs from July 5-August 14, will offer 116 performances by ensembles and artists from some 20 countries, and will include 6 World, North American, U.S., and New York premieres unfolding in seven venues on and off the Lincoln Center campus.

The New York Times is reporting that Tony winner Jefferson Mays, Elisabeth Waterson, and Rocco Sisto will close out hte run of the the New Audience's run of Measure for Measure on March 14th. The production, which is directed by Arin Arbus (who directed the theater company's Othello last season), also plays the Duke on 42nd Street.
Tony Simotes, Shakespeare & Company's Artistic Director, today announces the full lineup for the summer portion of S&Co.'s 33rd season, his first as Artistic Director. Joining the previously announced Mainstage titles is a special addition to the Founders' Theatre lineup, plus the exciting programming at the Elayne P. Bernstein Theater and key casting info for the summer season. In addition to previous casting announcements, award-winning long-time Company actor Jonathan Epstein returns to S&Co. after a six-year absence to join the cast of The Winter's Tale in the role of Leontes. Simotes also welcomes back Director Daniela Varon after a five-year absence, who will direct Sea Marks in the Bernstein this season.
