Hot on the heels of their critically acclaimed production of Rossini’s The Barber of Seville, this June, Charles Court Opera return to Wilton’s as part of a national tour, with their brand-new production of one of the first Gilbert and Sullivan operas, The Sorcerer. 

It maintains the opera’s timeless charm, strong wit, and with a cast that never takes itself seriously, leads to an evening that has the audience roaring with laughter.

As theatre companies across the world struggle to survive this uniquely-challenging year, opera-ballet company Constella recognised both the isolation in care homes and artists’ own struggles to survive. In response, they launched the wonderful initiative ‘Connecting Stars’, which provides free, one-to-one virtual performances to care home residents.

Chess is coming back to the West End for the first time since 1986, opening at the London Coliseum on Thursday 26 April 2018 (Press night on Tuesday 1 May 2018) for a strictly limited 5 week season. The show will come without one of its previously announced cast members, however. BroadwayWorld has just learned that Murray Head has withdrawn from the production. A show representative explained:

Casting for the lead roles in Highbury Opera Theatre's Fever Pitch the Opera is announced today. The production marks 25 years since the iconic book was first published and its first musical staging. Author Nick Hornby has given his blessing to the north London company to create and perform an original musical production based on the novel, which explores the author's obsession with Arsenal Football Club.

In a record-breaking year for the number of prizes and total cash awarded, Lauren Michelle, of Los Angeles, won the $15,000 First Prize in the finals of the 2015 Lotte Lenya Competition, sponsored by the Kurt Weill Foundation for Music and held on April 18, 2015, in Kilbourn Hall of the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y. Robin Bailey, of London, U.K., and Jordan Davidson, of Philadelphia, N.Y., both won Second Prizes of $10,000, and two Third Prizes of $7,500 each were awarded to Adam Fieldson, of Lincoln, Neb., and Michael Maliakel, of New York.

Fourteen exceptionally talented singer-actors from the United States, United Kingdom, and Germany have been selected as finalists in the 2015 Lotte Lenya Competition, held annually by the Kurt Weill Foundation for Music. They will compete for top prizes of $15,000, $10,000 and $7,500 on Saturday, April 18, 2015, in Rochester, New York.
