The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is extending invitations to join the organization to 842 artists and executives who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to theatrical motion pictures. The 2019 class is 50% women, 29% people of color, and represents 59 countries. Those who accept the invitations will be the only additions to the Academy's membership in 2019.

Presented through July 8 at part of the Whitefire Theatre Musical Mondays, the updated and unrated SHAME OF THRONES: The Musical, directed by Rachel Stein, produced by Steven Christopher Parker, Steven Brandon, Erin Stegeman, and Ace Marrero is a riotous romp through not only the beginning of the series where all of the major characters were introduced, but also manages to throw in plenty of groan-worthy jabs at every character and situation during its entire run.

The internet buzzed but the only one who really knew Nasty Cherry was Charli XCX. Now, the female-fronted, Los Angeles-based all-girl band delivers their sophomore single,“What Do You Like In Me?” released today on Charli XCX's label imprint Vroom Vroom Recordings--alongside the official music video produced and codirected by lead-singer Gabbriette and creative Indiana Piorek. Quirky, off beat, silly and sexy, the video perfectly demonstrates what Nasty Cherry embodies. 

Zions Bank in partnership with Spike150, CRWDA and Ogden Musical Theatre presented Gold Mountain, written by 2017 ASCAP Foundation's Cole Porter Award recipient Jason Ma as a series of semi-staged concert performances at the Regent Street Black Box at The Eccles Theater in Salt Lake City and in partnership with Ogden Musical Theatre, at the historic Peery's Egyptian Theater in Ogden, May 8 - May 11.

LA-based artist morgxn will be supporting Robert Delong on a string of U.S. tour dates, kicking off February 6, 2019 in Chicago.  morgxn recently released a collaboration with WALK THE MOON on his standout single “home.” With dynamic accompanying visuals, “home” seamlessly blends morgxn's vocals with WALK THE MOON frontman Nicholas Petricca. The pair sang “home” for the first time live at morgxn's Lollapaloozadebut performance earlier this summer and decided to go into the studio to turn it into an official collaboration. The track which has been rapidly climbing the alternative radio charts is currently #27 while the video has over 750K views.

Tonight, Carnegie Hall opened its 2018-2019 season with a sold out gala benefit concert featuring the San Francisco Symphony conducted by Music Director and Carnegie Hall Perspectives artist Michael Tilson Thomas. The program included Gershwin's Cuban Overture and An American in Paris as well as Liszt's Mephisto Waltz No. 1. Mr. Tilson Thomas and the orchestra were joined on this celebratory occasion by renowned sopranos Renee Fleming and Audra McDonald offering vocal selections by Gershwin, Rodgers, Villa-Lobos, Stephen Sondheim, and others.

The Neighborhood House program of Christ Church Preservation Trust, a catalyst for the arts at historic Christ Church, presents five free world premiere performances of In Plain Air, a work in multiple movements by composers Nathan Davis and Phyllis Chen that marks the culmination of the International Contemporary Ensemble's year-long residency in celebration of Christ Church's new C.B. Fisk pipe organ, Opus 150. Performances will take place at Christ Church today, September 22 at 1pm, 3:30pm, and 6pm and on Sunday, September 23 at 3:30pm and 6pm. Movements employing Christ Church's historic bells, custom instruments, and itinerant musicians will convey audiences across the entire Christ Church campus before introducing them to Opus 150. Presented in partnership with FringeArts, all performances of In Plain Air will be free. Major support for In Plain Air has been provided by The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage.

Leeds trio Drahla are excited to share the video for their new single 'Twelve Divisions Of The Day', available now via Captured Tracks. Following the release of his debut album vital HERE (via wxnderlost/Hollywood Records), LA-based artist morgxn is set to make his Lollapalooza debut this weekend. First, opening for Carly Rae Jepsen at Friday's sold-out, official Lollapalooza after show, followed by his main performance Saturday on the BMI stage and a stripped down set at the Bud Light Dive Bar. His single “carry the weight” was the soundtrack to HBO's chill-inducing “Share The Love” PRIDE campaign HERE and added to SiriusXM's Alt Nation. Now, on the eve of Lollapalooza, morgxn reveals a live, stripped down version of “carry the weight”, shot at Clubhouse Austin HERE and his recentBaeble Music NEXT session “Armed with just a piano, he let his voice shine, switching between powerhouse vocals and delicate vibrato” is HERE.

ASCAP, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, the world leader in performing rights and advocacy for music creators, today announced that Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum producer and composer Tom Holkenborg, professionally known as Junkie XL, has switched to ASCAP for representation of public performances of his extensive music repertoire. Among other projects, the composer has scored box office-topping films includingDeadpool, Mad Max: Fury Road, Black Mass and Divergent.

Today, LA-based artist morgxn announces a 22-date fall tour with the rock trio Dreamers. The month-long tour starts on September 13th in San Diego and will go through Texas, Florida, visit both East and West coasts, and go via Chicago to end in Kansas on October 10th.

LA-based artist morgxn has released his debut album, vital, today via wxnderlost records/Hollywood Records. Working with producer Ryan Marrone (M83, Nicki Minaj,) vital features morgxn's standout song“home” (over 10MM plays), a Robert Smith-approved cover of The Cure's “boys don't cry,” and his previously revealed songs “bruised,” “xx,” “me without you,” “translucent” and “carry the weight” which was recently added to SiriusXM's Alt Nation.  This summer morgxn is set to make festival appearances at Lollapalooza, Firefly, Cayuga and Laurelive.
