American Theater Company & National Public Housing Museum Team for THE PROJECT(S), Educational Programs

American Theater Company (ATC) and the National Public Housing Museum (NPHM) have announced a new partnership to co-create and pilot an educational curriculum in Chicago Public Schools based on ATC's critically acclaimed The Project(s) - a documentary play on Chicago's public housing conceived, co-written and directed by ATC's late Artistic Director PJ Paparelli and co-written by Joshua Jaeger.

Robert F. Smith Elected Chairman of Carnegie Hall's Board of Trustees

Carnegie Hall today announced that Robert F. Smith has been elected as Chairman of Carnegie Hall's Board of Trustees. Mr. Smith-a trustee since 2013-succeeds Carnegie Hall's Acting Chairman Mercedes T. Bass. A longtime trustee, Mrs. Bass will continue to serve in a leadership role, resuming her position as a Vice Chair. Both Mr. Smith and Mrs. Bass will assume these posts effective immediately. Mr. Smith was elected today at a meeting of the Hall's trustees.

Melissa Etheridge Teams with Alkalife TEN to Bring Bottled Water to Flint

Today, Alkalife announces a partnership with brand ambassador Melissa Etheridge to provide a tractor-trailer of Alkalife TEN spring water, approximately 35,000 bottles, to the people of Flint, Michigan. Joining the effort is Virginia-based Grand Springs, a TEN water source and bottler.

Daniel Smith, World's Most Recorded Bassoon Soloist, Dies at 77

Daniel Smith, who was one of the few bassoonists recording and performing in both Jazz and Classical music, described as the "Gerry Mulligan of The Bassoon", in the world of Jazz and the "Rampal of The Bassoon" in classical music, dies at 77 on December 19, 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

2015 Unsigned Only Music Competition Announces Winners

The Unsigned Only Music Competition, geared toward musical artists who are unsigned to a major record label or its affiliates, announced its 2015 winners today. The competition recognizes the best in up-and-coming artists worldwide and acts as a benchmark for excellence in contemporary music. Winners were selected from 7,000 entries from all over the world and represent musical genres in contemporary music. More than $100,000 in cash and prizes is awarded to a total of 26 winners. Judges include: Aimee Mann; Dustin Lynch; The Killers; David Crowder; Robert Smith (The Cure); Ray Wylie Hubbard; Aaron Shust; Lucero; Kelly Price; Colt Ford; Frank Foster; Rapsody; Kool And The Gang; Anthony DeCurtis (Contributing Editor, Rolling Stone); Kyle Anderson (Senior Writer, Entertainment weekly); Josh Jackson (Co-Founder and Editor-In-Chief, Paste Magazine); Shirley Halperin (Music Editor, Billboard and Hollywood Reporter); Hardeep Phull (Music Critic, New York Post), and many more.
