Folger Theatre Announces 2013/14 Season; ROMEO AND JULIET, TWO GENTELMEN IN VERONA and RICHARD III

Folger Theatre's artistic producer Janet Alexander Griffin today announced the season for 2013/14. Building on its reputation for productions called "breathtakingly original" by The Washington Post, the theater will mount a full season of William Shakespeare, in honor of the author's 450th birthday anniversary year.

Folger Theatre Extends Run of HENRY V!

Capitol Hill's Folger Theatre today announced that the run of its critically acclaimedproduction of William Shakespeare's play Henry V will be extended an additional week, running through Sunday, March 10. The production, directed by Robert Richmond (Othello and Henry VIII at the Folger), boasts an impressive cast of just 13, led by Zach Appelman, garnering unanimous praise as the young King Henry. Katie deBuys also stars as Katherine, the Princess of France, alongside Richard Sheridan Willis, Louis Butelli, Chris Genebach, Catherine Flye, James Keegan, among others.

The epic story of King Henry V's battle with the French during the Hundred Years' War comes alive for the first time at the Folger Theatre, in William Shakespeare's historical drama Henry V. The production, directed by Robert Richmond (Othello and Henry VIII at the Folger), stars Zach Appelman (War Horse on Broadway) in his Folger Theatre debut as Henry V, and will run from tonight, January 22 - March 3, 2013.

The Alabama Shakespeare Festival to Open 2012 Season with THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR, 4/13

The Alabama Shakespeare Festival will roll into its repertory season when William Shakespeare's comedy The Merry Wives of Windsor opens on April 13 followed by Henry VIII on April 19. In addition to the openings of these two Shakespearean works, two comedies The Thirty Nine Steps and Travels My Aunt will reopen for the second half of their runs on April 22. ASF's Extreme Weekends, in which theatre lovers can see all four repertory shows Friday through Sunday are available April 20-22 and 27-29 as well as May 4-6, 11-13 and 18-20.

Psittacus Productions, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit theater and multimedia company, announced today that the critically acclaimed 'CYCLOPS: A ROCK OPERA,' is extending due to popular demand. The final performance at NYMF will be Sunday October 9th at 11pm, at the 47th Street Theatre in midtown Manhattan. Featuring an original score of 24 genre-bending songs written by Jayson Landon Marcus and Benjamin Sherman, 'CYCLOPS' is a fast-paced, rock n' roll musical re-imagining of the only surviving Greek Satyr Play, the story of Odysseus' encounter with the monstrous Cyclops, and his adventures with the loud and crude rock band The Satyrs.
