Folger Theatre Extends Run of HENRY V!

By:

Capitol Hill's Folger Theatre today announced that the run of its critically acclaimed production of William Shakespeare's play Henry V will be extended an additional week, running
through Sunday, March 10. The production, directed by Robert Richmond (Othello and Henry VIII at the Folger), boasts an impressive cast of just 13, led by Zach Appelman, garnering unanimous praise as the young King Henry. Katie deBuys also stars as Katherine, the Princess of France, alongside Richard SheriDan Willis, Louis Butelli, Chris Genebach, Catherine Flye, James Keegan, among others.

Artistic Producer Janet Griffin said, "It is very exciting to see that Henry V has been so embraced by Folger audiences. We are extremely proud of everyone associated with this bold production, and we wanted to give more people the opportunity to experience this singular, and timely play in our intimate theater."

Since opening, the critics have been praising Folger's production of Henry V. The Washington Post called it "the most stirring version of a Shakespeare history play the city has seen in a decade." The Washingtonian declared the show, "deeply moving...outstanding," while MD Theatre Guide proclaimed, "If there is one show that you will see in 2013, Folger's Henry V must be that show...a stroke of theatrical genius."

Henry V tells the story of a young king seeking to reunite his strife-torn kingdom by launching a campaign to seize the throne of France. After his invasion's initial success, the king finds himself facing a vastly superior French force on the fields of Agincourt - and with it, the ultimate test of his leadership.Facing factious lords and civil turmoil, Henry learns what it is to be the king and realizes perhaps the most stunning victory of all -- the capacity of the human spirit to overcome any obstacle.

Performances are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights at 7:30pm, Fridays at 8pm, Saturdays at 2pm and 8pm, and Sundays at 2pm and 7pm. Tickets for the extension, starting at $50, are now on sale and can be purchased by calling the Box Office at 202.544.7077 or by visiting www.folger.edu/theatre.

Discount prices for students, senior citizens, educators, and military are also available, starting at $40. Partial view seats start at $30.
