Another new year, and time to look forward once more to all the exciting treats the West End has in store for 2014.

Beware - the following may cause theatre-lovers to become overly excited and ultimately lose a fair amount of time and money to their theatre habit. There's a lot to look forward to in 2014 - from revivals of shows that many know and love, to new and intriguing things that might turn out to be rubbish, but sound really interesting!

Samantha Bond (Passion Play, Amy's View, Downton Abbey, Outnumbered) plays Muriel Eubanks, a glamorous divorcee looking for love in Beaumont-sur-Mer on the French Riviera and John Marquez (Privates On Parade, The Taming of the Shrew, Doc Martin) plays Andre Thibault, Beaumont-sur-Mer's Chief of Police.

The Daily Mail reports that Downton Abbey's Samantha Bond will join Robert Lindsay, Rufus Hound and Katherine Kingsley in DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS, directed by Tony winner Jerry Mitchell at the Savoy Theatre.

The Ambassador Theatre Group Ltd (ATG) today announces that it has completed a deal to acquire 100% ownership of the Savoy and Playhouse theatres in London's West End from its current partners.

There's TV's Claire Balding. And there's multi-award winning actor Robert Lindsay. And there's theatrical grandee Trevor Nunn. And, of course, the Lord himself. But if we began the evening star-spotting amongst the already famous, we finished it spotting those who will be famous.

The unique conversation show, Living The Life returns to Sky Arts for a third series with another fascinating line up of guests. Celebrities confirmed to participate in the new series include Elliott Gould, Twiggy, Derren Brown, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Dave Stewart, Lord Archer and Marianne Faithfull.Living the Life will begin on Wednesday 2nd October at 8pm on Sky Arts 1 HD and Sky Go.

The Daily Mail reports that Robert Lindsay will join Rufus Hound and Katherine Kingsley in DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS, directed by Tony winner Jerry Mitchell at the Savoy Theatre. The show begins in the West End on March 10 after runs at the Manchester Opera House (beginning February 12) and the Waterside Theatre in Aylesbury (beginning February 26).

Trevor Nunn's production of James Goldman's THE LION IN WINTER has scheduled an additional matinee performance for Tuesday, January 24 at 2:30pm. The show will complete its run at the Theatre Royal Haymarket on January 28 as previously announced.
