Texas Music Festival Trumpets 2016 Summer Concerts with Musical Firsts

This summer the 27th Annual Immanuel and Helen Olshan Texas Music Festival (TMF) will chart several musical firsts, including the TMF debut of distinguished Austrian conductor Hans Graf, who holds the distinction of having been the longest serving Music Director in Houston Symphony history. The June 3 - July 2 international music residency, based at the University of Houston (UH) Moores School of Music, attracts classical music's rising stars from top tier music conservatories worldwide to study and perform in concert with world-class soloists, conductors and faculty artists at the UH Moores Opera House and the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion.

ZZ Top Coming to Indian Ranch, 9/10

Based on the hit motion picture, 3-D Theatricals of Orange County, California puts its award-winning spin on The Full Monty... one of Broadway's most hilarious, yet truly touching family musicals April 15 - 17 at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center in Redondo Beach, CA; and April 22 - May 8, 2016 at the historic Plummer Auditorium in Fullerton, CA.  Official "press" openings in Redondo Beach and Fullerton will be Saturday, April 16 and Saturday April 23, respectively. The production is directed by 3DT Executive Producer and Artistic Director T.J. Dawson,  with Choreography by Leslie Stevens; and  Musical Direction by Conductor Corey Hirsch.  Ryan Ruge serves as Assistant Director. American Repertory Ballet to Perform at McCarter Theatre, 4/8

 American Repertory Ballet will present Masters of Dance & Music on Friday, April 8, 2016 at 8 p.m. at McCarter Theatre in downtown Princeton, N.J. The program will feature the world premiere of Mary Barton's A Shepherd Singing (And I Still Heard Nothing), modern dance pioneer Jose Limon's There is a Time and Kirk Peterson's Glazunov Variations. Music for Mary Barton's world premiere - Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 - will be performed live by the Princeton University Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Michael Pratt.

Houston Symphony to Premiere Concerto by Late Composer James Horner

The Houston Symphony will present the North American premiere of celebrated film composer James Horner's last completed concert work, as well as perform Rachmaninoff's Symphonic Dances during James Horner Plus Rachmaninoff at 8 p.m. March 31 and April 2 and 2:30 p.m. April 3.

FirstWorks' Artistic Icons Series to Conclude with Roseanne Cash, 4/10

The 2015/2016 FirstWorks Artistic Icons Series closes with singer and songwriter Rosanne Cash in her only New England tour appearance of the season with her full band for 'The River & the Thread,' live in concert on Sunday, April 10 at 6:30 p.m. at The Vets (1 Avenue of the Arts, Providence). Tickets are $28-$75 (prices include a $3 restoration fee). The $75 premium ticket includes a post-show bourbon tasting reception with Rosanne Cash.
