Each year the Motion Picture Sound Editors presents the MPSE GOLDEN REEL AWARDS, in which the origanization acknowledges the year's best work in the various areas of sound editing: Dialogue & ADR, Effects & Foley, and Music. NYC Parks Commissioner Veronica M. White today joined City Council Members Robert Jackson and local youths to cut the ribbon on a new playground and ballfields in Fort Washington Park in northern Manhattan, one of eight regional parks being transformed under PlaNYC, the City's long-term plan for a greener, greater New York. The Classical Theatre of Harlem (CTH) (Producing Artistic Director, Ty Jones), presents the Shakespeare classic A Midsummer Night's Dream directed by Artistic Associate Justin Emeka this summer in Harlem's Richard Rodgers Amphitheater in Marcus Garvey Park. Performances of the free play, which runs today, July 13-30 (on Tuesdays through Sunday) at 7:30 pm, are made possible by the Ford Foundation.

The Council of Advisors of the Arts Horizons LeRoy Neiman Art Center and the Arts Horizons Board of Directors welcomed guests to the Second Annual a fundraiser, Art Splash 2013, Larger Than Life at the LeRoy Neiman Art Center (LNAC) in Central Harlem. The evening featured an awards ceremony, exhibition, buffet dinner, cocktails and a silent auction celebrated the legacy of the famed artist LeRoy Neiman and his vision to provide arts education to the young children of Harlem. On Jan. 1, Ovation, the only cable television network exclusively devoted to the arts, was officially dropped from Time Warner Cable's (TWC) lineup. Just before being dropped, Ovation delivered TWC a petition signed by over 25,000 Americans. The petition, which was hosted online at the website KeepOvation.com expresses dismay at TWC's intention to drop the network and urges the cable company to keep Ovation in its lineup.

Citizens for Access to the Arts was joined by NYC Arts Organizations and NYC elected officials yesterday at City Hall to express their opposition to Time Warner Cable, Inc's decision to drop Ovation. Numerous individuals from arts organizations joined in chants including 'Save Ovation,' 'Time Warner Cable - do the right thing!' 'Don't be a scrooge Time Warner Cable,' 'Save the arts!'
