Andrea Rosen Gallery to Display Yoko Ono's THE RIVERBED, Today

Yoko Ono - a forerunner in Conceptual Art involving collaboration, audience participation and social activism - will present a double exhibition, THE RIVERBED, at Galerie Lelong and Andrea Rosen Gallery. Following her recent exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, these interactive exhibitions are comprised of two entirely new full gallery installations. THE RIVERBED will open to the public on December 11, 2015 and continue through January 23, 2016 at Andrea Rosen Gallery and January 29, 2016 at Galerie Lelong. The artist will be present at the openings.

Canadian born sculptor David Altmejd has gained notoriety for his work in large scale, often room-sized sculptures. His work incorporates a wide variety of materials, evoking both the beautiful and the grotesque and blending playfulness with high art. His work has been featured in the 2004 Whitney Biennial, the 2007 Venice Biennial and at numerous museums throughout North America and Europe. David Altmejd is the first truly comprehensive book on this artist's work, covering the scope of his entire career to date and containing commentary by numerous critics and writers.

Frist Center Announces 30 AMERICANS Programming, Fall 2013

This fall the Frist Center for the Visual Arts will offer a variety of exciting public programming in conjunction with the exhibition 30 Americans. Highlights include Artist's Perspective lectures by Hank Willis Thomas and Nina Chanel Abney, two of the artists featured in 30 Americans. Also, in partnership with Vanderbilt University's Office of Community, Neighborhood, and Government Relations, the Frist Center will host a special three-part lunch and lecture series presented by Vanderbilt professors and guest panelists. Titled 'Food for Thought: Visualizing America through Art by African American Artists and Norman Rockwell,' the series will explore issues such as the U.S. civil rights movement and how historical events have shaped visual as well as social culture.

Often provocative and challenging, the exhibition explores how artists relate their own sense of self to ideas within history, popular culture and contemporary mass media central to American society. 30 Americans will be on view in the Center's Ingram Gallery from today, Oct. 11, 2013 through Jan. 12, 2014.

Tavares Strachan Represents the Bahamas Pavilion at the 55th International Art Exhibition la Biennale di Venezia

The Bahamas, which will host its inaugural pavilion at the 55th International Venice Biennale in 2013, will present Polar Eclipse, a multi-sensory installation by Tavares Strachan that investigates themes of heroic exploration, cultural displacement, oral history, and the shifting of historic narratives over time. Three geographically and culturally disparate sites-the Venice Arsenale, downtown Nassau, and the North Pole-will momentarily coexist in the Bahamian pavilion. The exhibition will exist in two dimensions: as a single, comprehensive installation, and as a collection of individual artworks. Key works will include a 14-channel video, a sound installation, and a selection of neon sculptures.

CELLBLOCK I & CELLBLOCK II Exhibitions Postponed at Andrea Rosen Gallery

Andrea Rosen Gallery will be postponing the opening of its Cellblock I & Cellblock II exhibition, curated by Robert Hobbs, that was scheduled to open on November 3rd. At this stage, the gallery is hopeful to be back open in approximately two-to-three weeks' time. The gallery will send an updated announcement as it learns more information. In the meantime, Andrea Rosen Gallery's thoughts and best wishes go out to all who have been affected by the storm.

Andrea Rosen Gallery has announced Cellblock I and Cellblock II, two group exhibitions - both curated by Robert Hobbs -that are intertwined yet distinctly separate in their intention. The exhibitions open November 3, 2012 at the Gallery's main space at 525 West 24th Street, as well as inaugurating its new, second location, at 544 West 24th Street.
