The University of Illinois has announced the appointment of Jeffrey Eric Jenkins as Professor of Theatre and Head of the Department of Theatre. Jenkins, currently the Director of Theatre Studies at New York University and Editor of the Best Plays Theater Yearbook, will assume his new duties on August 16, 2012.

The New Amsterdam Singers, led by Music Director Clara Longstreth, will present the world premiere of Dateless Calendar by Paul Alan Levi, commissioned by the chorus to honor Mr. Levi's 70th birthday. The concert will take place on Sunday, March 13 at 4 p.m. at The Church of the Holy Trinity, 316 East 88th Street.

This appearance is part of her nationwide tour in support of her new album Leave Your Sleep. The tour will be Merchant's first major outing in seven years. Merchant and her eight-piece band will perform new material as well as favorites from throughout her career.

Urban Stages is pleased to announce the American Premiere of The Oxford Roof Climber's Rebellion, the first production of their 2007/2008 season. The Oxford Roof Climber's Rebellion is a play written by Stephen Massicotte and will be directed by Roger Danforth. Performances will be at 259 West 30th Street (between 7th and 8th). Previews will begin on Saturday, October 13 with the opening date scheduled for Thursday, October 18 and will run through Sunday, November 18. Press is invited beginning on Wednesday, October 17.
