On Friday May 13, Broadway Stars will perform in concert highlighting the Summer Theatre's Gala Evening "Getting to Know You" held at Woodway Country Club in Darien CT.  The evening features performances by Broadway Tony Award-Winning actress Kelli O'Hara star of The King and I,  South Pacific,  Bridges of Madison County, Light in the Piazza and The Pajama Game (with Harry Connick Jr.).  She will be joined with Broadway friends of the Summer Theatre including two-time Tony Nominee Robin de Jesus, Broadway composer and national cabaret star David Friedman and Broadway veterans Janelle Robertson, Jodi Stevens and Chip Zien.  Also, a performance by cast members from this summer's West Side Story, and by the Performing Arts Conservatory of New Canaan Children Chorus.

York Little Theatre's  professional staff is ready to take children to other lands through the magic of theater in their week long theater camps. Campers will learn the fundamentals of acting by exploring and developing  all of the actor's tools: expression, movement, voice and imagination.  Audition techniques, prop and set design will also be explored. York Little Theatre's camps are filled with stimulating fun that will culminate with a performance on Friday for family and friends. The Magical Makeup class will explore fundamentals of designing and applying make-up for theater.

Watching Matilda the musical is like witnessing something as close to musical theatre perfection as you can get. The detail in this masterpiece is so intricate & refined. I'm still trying to find fault in the show, to give a balanced objective summation of the work. And yet as hard as I try I cannot think of a single moment that didn't work, a cast member out of place a or time where my mind wandered. Dennis Kelly's writing is brilliant Tim Minchin's lyric and score unconventionally perfect and Matthew Warchus' staging thrilling.

Five aspiring stage managers have won their big break into the theatre industry after receiving a Golden Ticket to a week-long paid work placement on Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the record-breaking West End musical, directed by Sam Mendes.

Flat Rock Playhouse and Studio 52 will present a new musical version of Roald Dahl's JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH, Jr. from March 11 through 20 at the Playhouse Downtown. Written in 1961, JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH was the first novel Dahl penned for children before going on to author Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda and many others including the film adaptation of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Broadwayworld.com NJ interviewed Stephen Fox, the Musical Director of 'James and the Giant Peach' at The Growing Stage, the Children's Theatre of New Jersey. The show runs from March 11th through April 3rd.

"I saw Matilda on Broadway for the first time after I had been cast in the show. At intermission, I said to my wife, 'this could be my favorite show I've ever seen.' he Growing Stage, The Children's Theatre of New Jersey, located in the Historic Palace Theatre on Route 183 in Netcong, presents the New Jersey premiere of JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH. Based on the book by Roald Dahl, JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH, has Music and Lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and a Book by Timothy Allen McDonald. It was originally produced at Seattle Children's Theater under the director of Linda Hartzell. This production is under the direction of Stephen L. Fredericks, The Growing Stage's Executive Director with musical direction by Stephen Fox and Choreography by Jillian Petrie.
