This Spring, The Mercury Theatre Colchester bring some unexpected twists to one of Noel Coward's most celebrated plays. Pete Ashmore and Krissi Bohn star as theatre's most volatile and passionate couple Elyot Chase and Amanda Prynne in the classic comedy of manners, Private Lives, which is taken out of the 1930s and brought into a modern day setting. Joining the ever warring but hopelessly in love pair are Robin Kingsland as Victor, Olivia Onyehara as Sybil and Christine Absalom as the maid.

Artists from Suburbia, a new community-based theatre initiative and proud member of the Eastern Massachusetts Association of Community Theaters, announces three local playwrights as the winners of its Perspectives Playwriting Competition. Their one-act plays will be workshopped June 15 and 16, culminating in an evening of staged readings on June 17 at 7 p.m. at the East Bridgewater Public Library. The event will be free and open to the public.

Penobscot Theatre Company's Dramatic Academy presents Fantastic Mr. Fox, Roald Dahl's classic tale of a bodacious, bushy-tailed husband and father with a casual approach to property lines. Fox's charm is as irrepressible as his hunger for fresh chickens, which is why audiences will cheer as he outfoxes his miserable neighbors. Performances will be May 13 and 14 at 4:30 pm and May 15 at 11:30 am at the Bangor Opera House.

The Tony Award® winning MATILDA THE MUSICAL will close on January 1, 2017, it was announced today. By then, it will have played 37 previews, 1,555 regular performances, and one Actors Fund performance. The production opened on April 11, 2013 (previews began March 4) at the Shubert Theatre (225 West 44th Street). MATILDA THE MUSICAL has paid back its $16 million investment on Broadway, making the show a rare hit simultaneously on Broadway and in London's West End.
