In this collaboratively-created play by blossoming theater company TV, the ensemble unpacks the longing one can feel for another time and place, whether real or imagined: childhood, years without war, early human history, a time when everyone enjoyed the outdoors and raised chickens and heard gossip from the neighbors, when strawberries were tiny and sour. With choral odes by Deepali Gupta, this whimsical show hops millennia in its exploration of what once was or never was at all.

Casting is complete for SUMMER SHORTS 2018, produced by Throughline Artists (J.J. Kandel, Producing Artistic Director) at 59E59 Theaters (Val Day, Artistic Director; Brian Beirne, Managing Director). SUMMER SHORTS 2018 begins on July 20 and runs through September 1. Two series featuring three one-act plays in each will play in rotating repertory Tuesday - Friday at 7:15 PM; Saturday & Sunday at 2:15 PM and 7:15 PM. Please note, there are no matinee performances on Saturday, July 21, Sunday, July 22, or Saturday, July 28.
No stranger to the Public Theater, Kyle Beltran, has performed in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Head of Passes, and The Fortress of Solitude, and now returns to the stage for Fire in Dreamland. Coming to audiences from playwright, Rinne Groff and directed by Marissa Wolf, this thought-provoking play examines uncovering possibility and new life in the face of destruction. Beltran plays Lance, a young man who is moving from youth into adulthood and dealing with all the challenges that come up along the way.

Kandel, Producing Artistic Director) with SUMMER SHORTS 2018, the annual festival of six short plays tailor-made for summer viewing, now celebrating its 12th season. The Board of Directors of Kansas City Repertory Theatre today announced that Dr. Eric Rosen, KCRep's Artistic Director, will be departing the organization to return to New York, where he will pursue other projects. The Board has named Associate Artistic Director Jason Chanos to Interim Artistic Director and is conducting a national search for a visionary artistic director. Chanos will partner with current Executive Director Angela Lee Gieras to lead the organization in the interim.
