Playhouse Theatre Group, Inc. supporters gathered on May 18th, 2024 for the Playhouse’s annual fundraiser, ENCORE! This year’s theme was MADLY MARVELOUS: A RETRO BASH, and the evening included dinner, drinks, live/silent auctions, dancing with the Latanya Farrell Band, and live performances.

Students who had their school show canceled have the option to sing a song from the show or perform a monologue from the role they didn't get the chance to play on stage by filling out the google form linked through the theater company's website. The producers will put together a lineup based on the submissions they receive so interested schools and performers have an opportunity to share a piece of their show's story that didn't make it to the stage this year.

Playhouse Theatre Group, Inc. today received a $4857.14 grant from [United Illuminating/Southern Connecticut Gas/Connecticut Natural Gas] under Connecticut's Neighborhood Assistance Act tax credit program. The funding will help with energy efficient stage lighting.

In keeping with the mission and vision of The Negro Ensemble Company, Inc, the company will present 'a photograph / lovers in motion,' written by Ntozake Shange and adapted and directed by Ifa Bayeza, from February 5 to 29 at Theatre 80 St. Marks, 80 St. Marks Place. The play was first produced at The Public Theater as 'a photograph / a study in cruelty' in 1977 then revised and produced at the Houston Ensemble Theater in 1982 under its current title, 'a photograph / lovers in motion.' It was presented as a feature in NEC's annual reading series in 2015, Year of the Woman.

CBS and Girls Inc. have joined together to create a CBS Cares public service announcement set to air during the CBS Television Network's SUPER BOWL LIII coverage, Sunday, Feb. 3, and after the Super Bowl on the CBS Sports Network. Featuring the voiceover of CBS THIS MORNING co-host Gayle King and players from the New York Giants, the PSA encourages girls to believe they can succeed at the highest levels, especially when they work together.
