PBS Presents WAR OF THE WORLDS 75th Anniversary Broadcast

On October 30, 1938, just after 8:00 p.m. on the east coast, the millions of Americans tuned to CBS Radio were treated to an unusual dramatization of H.G. Wells's classic The War of the Worlds, performed by 23-year-old wunderkind Orson Welles and his Mercury Theater on the Air.

Bard Music Festival Presents STRAVINSKY RE-INVENTED: FROM PARIS to LA Tonight

'Stravinsky Re-invented: From Paris to Los Angeles,' the second and final weekend of the 24th annual Bard Music Festival in New York'sAnnandale-on-Hudson, follows Igor Stravinsky from Europe to post-war Hollywood, investigating his subsequent shift in style from neoclassicism to serialism. The weekend opens tonight, August 16, with a screening of film clips that document the great Russian innovator, with commentary by Professor Charles M. Joseph, author of Stravinsky Inside Out. This special session is followed by the weekend's first concert, 'Against Interpretation and Expression: The Aesthetics of Mechanization,' a program of postmodernist ensemble classics by Stravinsky, Bartók, Varèse, Hindemith, and Messiaen; soloists include Grammy-nominated pianist Peter Serkin and So Percussion's Eric Beach.

Richard Wilson Stars in Theatre Royal Bath's A LITTLE HOTEL ON THE SIDE, Beg. Tonight

Theatre Royal Bath has announced Richard Wilson will star in the final production of its Summer Season, A Little Hotel On The Side directed by Lindsay Posner and Cal McCrystal. Adapted by John Mortimer, this hilarious comedy by Georges Feydeau and Maurice Desvallieres will appear at Theatre Royal Bath from tonight 15th August - Saturday 31st August.

Sheffield Theatres Announces Full Autumn Season For 2013

Sheffield Theatres today unveils its full autumn season of produced and touring work taking place from September 2013 - January 2014, alongside the news that Phil Davis (Whitechapel and Quadrophenia) will star as Fagin in the company's Christmas musical, Oliver! and Daniel Lapaine (Muriel's Wedding) will lead the cast of The Winter's Tale as Leontes.

Directed by Bruce Guthrie, the show is designed by Gabriella Slade with lighting by Humphrey McDermott and sound by Josh Richardson. Just announced, the cast will feature: Janet Amsden, Margaret-Ann Bain, Martin Buchan, Alistair Findlay, Neil McNulty and Steven Miller in this World Premiere.

Tickets go on sale today for the world premiere of new stage musical From Here to Eternity. The show will preview at the Shaftesbury Theatre from 30th September with Press Night on 23rd October 2013.
